Dreams Part 2 – Who’s the Source?

Dreams Part 2 – Who’s the Source?

Tweet Lately, it seems that more and more people are receiving dreams that are important and answer questions that they have been seeking God about. In this past few months alone, both of my children have received significant dreams from God. Most recently, my daughter was asking God to speak to her about an important ministry decision she needed to make. She received a dream for 5 consecutive nights. As we sat down to label symbols, pray, and seek God as to what His message was, it was evident He was answering her prayer in the form of dreams. Welcome to part 2 of a 5 part series on dreams. Last week, I shared on Dreams part 1 – A Basic Understanding of How God can communicate to us through the avenue of dreams. This week, I want to talk about the source of our dreams because not all dreams are God given. I will again be sharing pieces of my teaching from my training book Releasing God’s Heart Through Hearing His Voice. Source of Dreams 1  Not all dreams are from God; so it is important we ask God to help us discern which are from Him and which are not. Dreams come from three different sources: God God-given dreams contain revelation about circumstances which are occurring or are about to occur in an individual’s life. Sometimes if a dream doesn’t come to pass right away, we often think it wasn’t from God. However, Joseph’s dream took over 30 years to come to pass.2 Scripture shows us there are many types of dreams God can give us. Self...
God – The Good Gift Giver

God – The Good Gift Giver

Tweet Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17 NIV). I’m a GIFTS Person!  I love to give gifts; I love to get gifts. The way I feel and express love is through the giving and receiving of gifts. I am the type of person that has to buy the perfect gift. I will agonize over getting and finding just the right gift. That’s what a person with the love language of gifts does. But, I am also the person that can’t keep the gift a secret. I get so excited by finding just the perfect gift, I want to give it right away. Although, in my defense, I will say that I am way better than I used to be. In our house it goes down like this: I am out window shopping and having fun with my friends. I really am not looking for anything in particular but remembering that my husband’s birthday is coming up. Then I see it. Elephant bookends– my husband loves elephants! I contemplate and agonize over whether this would be something he would want in his office or even like and then I buy them. I get home with the intention of saving it for his birthday … and then I can’t contain myself. My joy at finding the perfect gift for the one I love is bursting at the seams. I can’t wait. “Hey honey, guess what I got you today?” He looks at me with a smile in his eyes, “It’s not my birthday yet....

Dreams, Part 1 – A Basic Understanding

Tweet God loves to communicate with His children, and one of the ways He chooses to do so is through the avenue of dreams. Dreams seem to draw attention from everyone, probably because there is much intrigue and mystery surrounding them. Welcome to part 1 of a 5 part series on dreams (posted every Thursday). I chose to tackle this topic because it was part of what I wrote about for my guest post God – The Good Gift Giver   on Sunday August 23rd at SusanBMead.com . Please, come back here or hop on over to Susan’s blog to join in the party for the release of her new book: Dance With Jesus from Grief to Grace. Did you know it is a proven, scientific fact that everyone dreams? Yes, it’s true. Scientists have proven that when our bodies enter into REM1 sleep, we enter into a state where we dream. So, if we all dream, then why don’t we remember it? There could be several reasons for this, and one of them could be lack of understanding. By this, I simply mean that if you haven’t received teaching about how God uses dreams to speak, a dream becomes an unimportant piece of mental junk. When I teach on dreams, I ask how many people don’t dream. There are always a few individuals who raise their hands. However, once they receive teaching on dreams, their spirit is awakened. Their natural mind is made aware that the average dream may be God speaking a message. I frequently get reports back from amazed students that they have begun to dream....

Tweet Last week I shared about my Journey through Change, and the 5 life lessons I have learned through the journey of the season I am in. What season? The season of change! The post you are about to read, was actually started last week. However, being that CHANGE is a constant in my life right now, God changed things up on me and I ended up with something completely different. Don’t you just love how God does that? He often calls an audible at the last minute and changes the direction we are going, but He always leads us safely through. God often calls an audible and changes the direction we are going, but He always leads us safely through.Powered By the Tweet This PluginTweet This As part of this season of change, a major change came back in February when my husband, John, had the great idea to “try” CrossFit. He mentioned it to me, but was very careful not to ask me or tell me I should join him. – Smart man! The next day he said he had contacted the gym and was going to go “try” it out. Out of my mouth came the words “I’ll go with you!” …..What??? Too late the words came rushing out of my mouth before I could even stop them. There was a brief second where I could plead insanity, but, I was so in shock, I couldn’t figure out how in the world those words came out of my mouth, much less how to take them back gracefully. John stared at me……. I know he was trying...
