The Storms of Life

The Storms of Life

Tweet It was predicted to be the biggest storm to hit the Pacific Northwest since the Columbus Day storm of 1962. We have only been in our current home for a little over 2 years, and so we were not really sure what to expect.  For the most part, the weather the last few years has been rather mild and calm.  Although, we have lost power in a few wind storms over the 2 years while here, we didn’t know what to plan for. We had not weathered this kind of storm in this house before.  In our old home of 18 years, we knew what to expect, we had weathered many things and had plans for everything.  But here, in this new place, in this new season, we just didn’t know what would happen. So we planned and prepared the best we could. Then we waited for the storm to come. The biggest storm to hit this area in over 50 years .. was actually the storm that never came. Do you ever build things up in your mind and think the worst will happen? Do you ever fear the unknown? Oh, I have … In fact, I used to all the time.  I would think through all the possible situations and the “what if’s” and come up with a plan for the worst my mind could imagine. Oh, and believe me, I have a pretty vivid imagination.  Always have, always will, and yet I feel as if I have finally let go of fear and needing to figure things out and released them to God.  It’s as...
Fall Mantle Decor

Fall Mantle Decor

Some affiliate links have been included in this post Tweet Last week on the blog, I added a new kind of post about how I have been decorating around the house for fall. Nope it’s not a spiritual message, nor is it a teaching, but I think to some it may be inspirational, and kinda fun. I started last week by showing my front porch decor, and this week, I am spotlighting my mantle.  Next week, I will share my dining room table. Last week, I shared on the Vlog and went into depth later in the week about  4 R’s we can implement when we are feeling overwhelmed. (click on the pictures below to check them out)   It seems that I have been beyond overwhelmed lately, and staying in bed all day with a good book wasn’t gonna help.  I thought about what else I could do to recharge, and yet still be active and moving…  so I decided to get creative and do some decorating for fall.  I actually made it to the end of September before taking down the spring/summer decorations and breaking out the fall items.  Partly, because, I just didn’t have the time to do so before then, but secondly, becasue I was just not quite ready to give up on summer. I am always on the lookout for unique pieces that speak to me.   When on vacation, I always try to bring a souvenir home that reminds is uniquely me and will remind me of that trip.In fact, several pieces of my mantle decor where found on separate trips to visit friends...
The Storm … that wasn’t Vlog #18 Lessons from the Lake

The Storm … that wasn’t Vlog #18 Lessons from the Lake

Tweet A few weekends ago, the Pacific Northwest was expecting a Huge Storm – and some were comparing it to the Columbus Day Storm back in 1962. However, it was a storm that didn’t live up to the expectations or predictions…. People were running around prepare, some people were praying, and some were waiting …. Join me on the Vlog (video blog) today as I share the things the Lord taught me through The Storm that wasn’t …… There is a battle being waged in the Spiritual realm.Powered By the Tweet This PluginTweet This  Daniel 10:12-14  Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.  The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come.” We need to understand that there is a war being waged in the heavenlies (Spirit realm), and we need to do what Daniel did…. humble ourselves before the Lord so that we can get his heart and understanding for the situations we face. 2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven,...
Overwhelmed? Overcome it!

Overwhelmed? Overcome it!

Tweet I have a confession. I am a little shocked and a tad embarrassed to even admit it….. but ….. I’ve been running. Not as in exercise, but as in hiding.  I’ve been feeling inadequate and a failure. I’ve been feeling as if I didn’t have anything to say worth saying. There’s been no desire to sit and write a blog post.  No desire to write period. When I looked back at my planning calendar, I realized, it’s been 7+ weeks since I have written and posted a regular blog post.  The Lesson’s from the Lake Vlog video posts, were pre-scheduled, and only needed a little tweaking or tweets added.  That is about all I have done, and it feels strange. It feels strange to not have been writing and sharing my thoughts for that long.  I mean, I am a writer!  It’s what I have always wanted to do and be, and yet, it seems this is a season to focus on it in a different way.   I know for many of you, October is a month full of writing since you have taken on the challenge and are writing every day!  The idea of Writing 31 whole days and posting every single one of them is overwhelming.  My hat is off to you, and I have enjoyed reading them when I can. I think it is fantastic and I admire you all so much.  I know some of you will turn these 31 days into books or devotionals,  and I am so excited for you. I did not even attempt the challenge this year, as I...

Front Porch Fall Decor 2016

Some affiliate links have been included in this post Tweet Hi and welcome to something new here on my blog. Nope it’s not a spiritual message, nor is it a teaching, but I think to some it may be inspirational. This week, I shared on the Vlog and will go more in depth tomorrow on the Blog about 4 R’s we can implement when we are feeling overwhelmed.   Saying that I have been overwhelmed is a bit of an understatement, but hey, its the best word I can think of to use.  One of the 4 R words is Recharge. Recharging looks different to each of us, and usually, for me its watching movies, or being creative in some way. Being creative may look different each time for me.  For example, I may Bible Journal, color in my adult coloring book, paint furniture, or decorate different areas of my house for the season we are in. Lately, I have been having fun decorating for the fall season.  I am always on the hunt whenever I can be at the local thrift stores, discount stores, antique shops, and of course Amazon (especailly with my Prime Membership -LOL). I am always on the lookout for unique pieces that speak to me.   When on vacation, I always try to bring a souvenir home that reminds is uniquely me and will remind me of that trip. More on that later when I share my mantle and table decor in the coming weeks. I have decided to share some of the seasonal decor around the house, since many people have been commenting and...
