Mission Possible & Tune In Thursday #5

Mission Possible & Tune In Thursday #5

Tweet Mission: Possible… Your mission should you choose to accept it….. is participating in Intentional acts of kindness. What? Don’t you mean random acts of kindness? Nope, I mean intentional.  Let me explain ….A random act of kindness according to Wikipedia is: a nonpremeditated, inconsistent action designed to offer kindness towards the outside world. The phrase “practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty” was written by Anne Herbert on a placemat in Sausalito, California in 1982. I love the idea of random acts of kindness, but shouldn’t we go about being consistent and purposeful in our actions. I believe, that God had more in mind for His people than us randomly going about being kind.  I mean, doesn’t He call us to be kind all the time? (Col 3: 12-17)  Shouldn’t we want to be an extension of Jesus’ love every day? I believe He wants us to intentionally be loving, kind, patient, and … intentional about operating in all the fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22.  In fact, if you missed my video blog on Thursday, where I talk about putting on kindness, you can check it out by clicking on the picture below. As I was praying over what to share with you today, I felt God remind me of a time when I had the honor of running a project I  called “Mission: Possible” on behalf of a ministry I worked for many years ago. The idea behind “Mission: Possible” was simple: intentionally target someone For good.  The ‘someone’ could be a business, a person, a ministry, etc.  The intentional target was usually...
Put on Kindness VLog #31 Lessons from the Lake

Put on Kindness VLog #31 Lessons from the Lake

Tweet Colossians 3:12-17 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.  And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.  And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Join me today on the video blog as I talk about what we are wearing.  We are told in Colossians to put on certain things, the question is, “Are we?” But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23). I don’t think anyone of us would consciously put on a jacket full of nails and walk around with the intent to hurt others.  But the truth is, some people are, and they are not even aware of it. We must each ask ourselves, “Are we walking around with nails sticking out of our life that we are puncturing and wounding others with?” Or instead are we wrapping others in the warmness of God’s loving kindness? ...

Overcome Discouragement In 4 Steps & Tune In Thursday Linkup #4

Tweet I watched the screen, excited for the young girl headed out into the open waters of the ocean, on the adventure of her life.  She was full of dreams, and passion.  Nothing could hold her back now, or so she thought.  She had almost made it passed the barrier reef that the waves crashed upon, when she was suddenly blindsided and overtaken by a wave.   The wave pushed her down toward the ocean floor and she was all turned around. Which way was up toward the surface?  With every second, my heart beat faster as she struggled to get to the surface to gasp for air.   Only to then be tossed and turned and pummeled by wave after wave.  Nothing she did seemed to help, until all of sudden she broke free and seemed to be able to gain her bearing and swim to shallower water where she gained her footing and breathed.  Deep, gasping, cleansing breathes, just happy to be able to breathe without being pushed around, forced under, or wondering which direction was up.   I sat there on the edge of the couch, feeling what this character on the TV screen was feeling.  It was as if I was right there in the water with her.  Gasping for air.     Have you ever felt like you were drowning in the activities of life?   As I sat staring ahead in quiet contemplation, at the scene I had just watched. I tried to calm my racing heart, no words to say, just BIG …. Deep …. breaths.   Lately life has been tossing,...

Tug Of War Vlog #30 Lessons from the Lake

Tweet Have you ever felt like you were in a spiritual tug of war with the enemy? I sure have.  In fact, life’s circumstances these last few weeks have resembled this very picture I share on today’s video blog below. When I recorded this video, it was well in advance of the last two weeks.  I didn’t anticipate or think I was on a verge of being in a spiritual battle.  But God!  God is so good, that He knew in advance, exactly what I needed, and He made sure I had this encouraging picture to hold on to. We are already Victorious, becasue Jesus was Victorious!Powered By the Tweet This PluginTweet This Sometimes, it feels like we are getting pulled over the line and we are about to lose, yet, the Word of God promises as we call upon the name of Jesus, He will come.  What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31 ESV) Jesus has already won the victory and when we are on His side, we win too. We are victorious. He is our Rock and Our Salvation.  He is our ever present help in time of need. “For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? (2 Samuel 22:32 ESV).   God is our refuge and strength,     a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,     though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam,     though the mountains tremble at its...

Got Peace ? & Tune In Thursday Linkup #3

Tweet What is real peace?    What does peace make you think of? How would you describe peace?     What does peace look like to you? Okay, do you have a response to what peace looks like to you? Maybe it’s a mental picture, a word, or a series of words you would use to describe peace. Maybe this picture would describe your definition or real peace? Or maybe this one?     In case you missed this Tuesday’s video blog Lessons from the Lake, I also discuss peace and it’s unique definition.  Check it out here by clicking on the picture below: The Hebrew word for peace is Shalom, which basically means, wholeness and well-being in all areas of life. The Shalom Peace of God speaks of destroying the authority attached to chaos! Did you catch that? I almost missed it and brushed past it all these years, until recently when talking with a friend.  We were talking about peace, because I was researching it for a sermon on the fruit of the spirit – Peace. As we were talking she said, “Peace isn’t peaceful at all. It’s an offensive attack against the enemy!” The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11 (NIV) I have learned that my peace, is directly proportionate to my trust. Peace comes from knowing God is in control. You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You! (Isaiah 26:3NLT) Peace is directly proportionate to your trust.Powered By the Tweet This PluginTweet This I know, it is easier said than...
