Yes, You Can! &Tune In Thursday #33

Tweet When my daughter was a toddler, she had a favorite phrase. It wasn’t the typical, “Why? …  “Mine,” “How come?” Or even the shouts of “No!”  I mean, those were said on occasion, but rather her favorite phrase to say about anything was … “I can’t.” She would say it about everything: Brandi it’s time for a nap. “I can’t.” Brandi put your shoes on. “I can’t.” Brandi brush your teeth, eat your lunch, drink your milk, let’s go outside and play.  “I can’t!” … “I can’t!” … “I can’t!” … “I can’t!” It didn’t matter what it was, she had somehow heard the words “I can’t” and taken them on as her mantra and answer for everything.  When she was two-and-a-half, it was kinda cute, but as she turned three, four, and even five it was not.  It was a terrible mindset, a pattern, a way of thinking that needed to be eradicated from her vocabulary and her life. I recall having a conversation with her when she was four years old, telling her she could do anything she set her mind to and she could be anything she wanted to be.  But can you really rationalize with a four-year-old.  She persisted in saying and proclaiming, “I can’t” about everything she didn’t want to do, and everything that took a little effort. I desperately cried out to God one day asking for wisdom about how to...

Fall Decor & Tune In Thursday #32

Tweet This past  weekend I took a little time decorating around my home and my front porch for autumn.  I have been so busy writing for the final deadline of my manuscript, that now it’s time to get a post  ready for Tune In Thursday, and my brain doesn’t want to write anymore. Have you ever been there?  Needing to write, and with no desire or inspiration?  I sure hope I am not alone in this. So instead, I decided to share my pictures of how I spent my downtime this weekend as I was refreshing and recharging. Being creative in other ways besides writing is how I fill my tank and refresh my mind. However, I am not sure it saved any time or was any faster than writing a blog post.  In fact, I think I spent more time taking pictures and editing them for you to view today. LOL I hope you enjoy my fall decor, and maybe you will get a little inspiration for some decorating of your own. Not everything is purchased at the same place or the same time.  I am always on the look out when I go to thrift stores, or second hand stores for items I might add to my decorations. Fall is one of my favorite season because of all the beautiful color changes that occur.  This little pillow below was my newest find from Home Goods. Here is my Table-Scape (minus my fall dishes). I love lanterns, and the one I use for fall on the table was brought home from one of my trips to South Carolina. Meet...
