Finally, when she had as many she could find without venturing too far, she walked to the very edge of the grass toward the rock retaining wall that overlooked the property.   Making her way past the grass and through the bushes she plopped her little bottom...

Perseverance in Recovery – Lessons from the Lake

Tweet I am excited to have you join me for week #2 in the series on perseverance, which continues for the next seven weeks with three of my incredible friends. If you missed my friend Mary Geisen’s post last week on Perseverance Through Fear, you can check it out by clicking here. As of now, I plan to share a “Lessons from the Lake” Video  that goes with the topic as well. Please check out today’s video, it is my introduction to the series, and not part of the text below. I am sorry.  This week, I was not able to record a video to go  with what my friend Holly Barrett wrote about today. (I am totally blaming jury duty, nasty windy, rainy weather which prohibited recording outside last week, and preparations for a women’s retreat I am speaking out this coming weekend). Together we will share insight, challenges, and our faith through our journeys of perseverance. Please join myself, Mary Geisen, Holly Barrett, and Patricia Krank as we learn from each other and share encouragement with our own stories of perseverance. Come join @MyOldThingsNew, @HollySBarrett, @MaryGeisen and me for week#2 in the series on perseverance.Powered By the Tweet This PluginTweet This To Persevere in Recovery   …..  By Holly Barrett I saw a meme online the other day that basically said a beautiful smile hides an injured soul so that no one can really tell how broken you are. I’m not sure if that’s a sadder commentary on our need to hide…or on others’ need not to know. Either way it reminded me of some days within my own recovery journey – days that were long and hard and often felt like...

[Tweet “Come join @MyOldThingsNew, @HollySBarrett, @MaryGeisen and me for a series on perseverance.”] Perseverance – Bravely Overcoming Fear By Mary Geisen I stood at the bottom looking up, shading my eyes to see the top. “You got this”, I said to myself. The rest of the group congregated nearby to hear the directions from the leaders. I look again to where my destination lies and vaguely hear, “it’s about a mile and a half to the top.” A thought crosses my mind. “I walk farther than that daily. No problem”! Confidence and smiles grace the faces of those around me. I plaster a smile on my face and begin the trek up the side of the volcano. After a few minutes my courage and confidence turns to fear. Will I make it to the top? Do I want to climb to the top and will I make it before the sun sets? The perseverance I embraced minutes ago now looks impossible and what seemed easy became challenging. … Click...

Strengthen Yourself in the Lord Vlog #33 Lessons from the Lake

Tweet Do you have a favorite Scripture? I do, lots of them actually.  Depending on what is going on in my life will depend on what my favorite Scripture is for that particular day, or moment.  In fact, this question “What’s your favorite Scripture?” was asked recently by another blogger.  At that moment in time, I was hit hard by discouragement and loss, and felt like I needed some extra strength. Do you ever feel like you need a little extra strength to just face the day ? Watch today’s Lessons from the Lake video to see how I responded to the question about what my favorite Scripture is and why. 1 Samuel 30:6  And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul,[b] each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. – David strengthened himself in the Lord – our strength comes from God.    During times of trials and tribulation, David cried out to God and God ministered to him right where he was at.   Let’s be people who seek after God’s heart.Powered By the Tweet This PluginTweet This   We can get encouragement from the Word of God, but also encouragement can come from other people as well.   Find you strength in God.Powered By the Tweet This PluginTweet This   What is the verse that you cling to when you need encouraged or strength?
