God’s Diamonds Tune In Thursday # 17

God’s Diamonds Tune In Thursday # 17

Tweet Did you know that a diamond is the hardest natural substance found on the Earth?   Yes, it’s true.   In fact, the word “Diamond” comes from the Greek word “Adamas” which means “unconquerable and indestructible”   Even the hardest rocks crumble with enough pressure and heat over time, but not a diamond.  God designed the creation process to create the most beautiful of things out of pressure.  Diamonds are made from a carbon substance much like coal.  Coal and carbon are plain, ordinary looking substances. Yet, when pressure is applied to them, what was once ordinary is now precious and highly sought after.  This is the case with diamonds. When pressure is applied, #God is making diamonds.Powered By the Tweet This PluginTweet This   Diamonds, like gold, are one of Gods most beautiful creations, and yet are formed under the most grueling of conditions.  They are a much sought after precious gemstone, but not until going through the refining and cleaning process.   There is a quote I found that says:         Diamonds do indeed dazzle, but there is so much more to them than meets the eye.  The same could be said of  people, in fact let’s look at some parallels between people and diamonds? There are four characteristics of diamonds, known informally as the four C’s.   Let’s look a little closer at the four C’s: carat, cut, color and clarity.   Carat Carat refers to a diamond’s weight.  There are several Scriptures that talk about God weighing us, our life’s, and seeing how we measure up or balance out. Tekel: You have been weighed...

The Father’s Heart & Tune in Thursday #16

Tweet I was all prepared to NOT have a post to share for today’s linkup due to my travel schedule. You see, I didn’t get a chance to write a post this week.  However,  as I headed out the door to teach tonight, my daughter asked if I needed any graphics for the link up and I said, no, I didn’t have a chance to write anything so there is no need.  My plan was to post a Father’s Day blessing and the linkup survey.  Well, as you  can see below, that isn’t the case.   My daughter Brandi is brilliantly creative.  God has gifted here in so many areas of creativity.  She sings, she paints, she writes music.  She is our churches entire media department; creating everything from promotional materials and videos to weekly announcements and blog post graphics. But I have always loved it when she would write.  Maybe because that is something we share.  Although, she hasn’t written anything in a very long time.  (Actually, I think the last time she wrote something was about four years when she was a senior in High School).  So it’s no wonder that as I was heading out the door her words stopped me short. As a side note, she replied in passing, that maybe she would write a guest post for me. Oh no, I wasn’t going to let this moment pass by. “Of course you can, I would love that!”  (oops, ok maybe my response a little too exited for her… deep breath – calm down)  “Oh, ok, well, If not for tomorrow’s linkup then maybe you...
Step Into Your Authority Tune In Thursday #15

Step Into Your Authority Tune In Thursday #15

Tweet   Tuesday, I had the privilege of writing the final piece in the 8-week perseverance series with my friends.  In that post, I shared how God had spoken to my heart about getting my house in order.  He wasn’t talking about the wooden structure my family lives in but rather, my life; body, soul, and spirit.     With Tuesday’s “Get your house in Order” post in mind, I want to dig in a little deeper and share one of the areas in my life that I needed to get in order. There are things in our lives that shape and form us into who we are today.  Some good, some not so good.  Some of the things that have shaped our life can actually hold us back from fulling entering into the promises God has for us.  That is unless we let go, get some healing, and renew our minds. My husband John, is preaching a series right now about the life of David and Saul.  A few weeks ago, He shared from 1 Samuel 15, where Saul is a little full of himself, disobeys God, does his own thing, and  then blames it on the people.  Saul even sets up a monument to honor himself.  Oh boy, from bad to worse. In 1 Samuel 15: 13-14 And Samuel came to Saul, and Saul said to him, “Blessed be you to the Lord. I have performed the commandment of the Lord.”  And Samuel said, “What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears and the lowing of the oxen that I hear?”  Saul said, “They have brought them...

Why God? & Tune In Thursday #13

Why God? & Tune In Thursday #13

Tweet As I prepared to write this post, I saw several news stories cross my social media feed (Monday evening).  Enough to make me ask my husband what was going on.  He always has the news on somewhere in the house.  He explained to me that there was yet another act of terrorism in a public setting with a tragic ending for many people.   It’s at times like this that ALL I want to do is ask Why?   Why God?  Why did this happen?   We choose to #TRUST #GOD even when we want to ask #Why ?Powered By the Tweet This PluginTweet This   It’s human nature to ask “why”, it starts almost as soon as we can talk.   As a child, I wanted an explanation for everything, just ask my mom.  She would tell me to do something and I would ask Why?  She would explain it and I would ask why about something in her explanation.   I am sure I was exasperating as a child, but I simply wanted to know Why!   I could always tell when I had crossed the line in asking “why” too many times, she would come back with, “Because I said so, or I told you so.”   Uh oh, now I was in for it.   That’s ok, because, my kids, especially my daughter did the exact same thing to me.  Sorry mom.   We however, do the same thing to God.   When tragedy strikes, when things don’t go our way, or they don’t work out the way we had hoped, we are left...

The Lost Will Be Found & Tune In Thursday # 12

Tweet Thank you for joining me today  for the Tune In Thursday linkup … before we get to today’s post, I want to apologize for not getting around to commenting on everyone who linked up last week.  I do love reading all the posts you link here each week, and I look forward to connecting with you that way, however my travel, teaching, and book rewriting schedule has been rather full.   My goal with hosting this link up is three fold: 1. Build authentic community with those of you who link your posts. 2. Encourage and Inspire 3. Provide a fun place each week for you to share the message God has placed on your heart. I am working on a survey that I hope to have posted here in the next week or two and you can weigh in on the importance of me visiting/commenting on each post, or the possibility of highlighting a post each week. One final thing,  as  I continue to work on rewrites with my publisher, I am looking for individuals  who are interested in being a  featured guest writer over the summer months here on Tune In Thursday.  More details will be coming in the next few weeks regarding this as well, but feel free to message me if you are interested.   The Lost Will be Found Side Note: Today’s post originally debuted on our church blog (www.rclacey.com) back in April – Enjoy! Have you ever lost something that you valued or dearly treasured?   Maybe the item lost was a person or a relationship?   Maybe a piece of jewelry? Or money? An item of clothing?...
