Have you ever noticed that often times when God speaks we pay close attention to it at the time, but as time passes it is important to keep it in front of you and ask the Lord to reveal more. But more than that, it is important to act upon what He has spoken or revealed. We often have a role to play and need to align or in some cases realign ourselves up with what He has spoken.
Write down this vision.
Write it clearly on tablets, so that anyone who reads it may run (Habakkuk 2:2 The Voice).
Just ask Habakkuk was entrusted to write down what was being told to him, we need to do the same. When we seek God for a word for the year, or ask Him to speak to us about decisions we need to make or what’s to come, we need to record and write down what He says. But we need to go beyond just writing things out. We need to keep it in front of us and often times we need to take action based on what is released or revealed to us.
So, for the next several weeks, I am going to break down portions of the Prophetic Word for 2020 I released publicly, corporately, and posted here on the blog on January 2, 2020.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to read it, you can find it by clicking here. Or on the image below.
This is week #4 of “Digging Deeper” into what the Lord placed on my heart for 2020.
If you missed last week’s post you can read it by clicking the image below:

Expand Your Borders
If we allow it, life has a way of convincing us that we are less than or not at all capable of possessing all God has for us.
At an early age, I allowed what people told me or what they thought of me to set the limits and boundaries of my life and thinking. Even into my early twenties, I carried many labels and the mentality of “little Debbie.” I was often reminded that I was too little, unqualified, or would never be good enough, worthy, or ready to do something.
Maybe you have some labels or thinking that hold you back too?
God wants us set free from those things. We need to ask God to show us who we are in Him. We need to ask Him to expand the boarders of our hearts and expand our thinking to line up with what He sees in us.
In 1 Chronicles 4 Jabez lived under the label of his name which meant “I bore him in pain (vs 9). However, God saw something different in Jabez. Jabez was used to living confined to what had happened in the past and what others thought of him too. Until he wasn’t. He was ready to break out of the confinement and restraints put upon him due to what occurred in the past.
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request (1 Chronicles 4:10).
In order to expand our borders, we must first be willing to break out of our confinements and restraints. We must expand both our thinking and our heart. We must choose to believe what God says about us and not what others say, or even what our past might tell us.
Borders represent limitations, confinement, and containment. But God wants us to break out of these things and begin to expand our lives. He wants us to expand not just our thinking, but our hearts. You can’t deal with only one, they go hand in hand.
Borders represent limitations, confinement, and containment. But #God wants to us to expand and break out. Share on X
Scripture tells us that the heart is the wellspring of life (Proverbs 4:32) and that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matt. 12:34; Luke 6:45). We are also told that as a man thinks in his heart, so he is (Proverbs 23:7). An important step for expanding our borders is to enlarge the capacity of our heart. In order to walk fully in obedience to the Lord, we need to allow him to heal our hearts and our thinking.
I will run in the way of your commandments
when you enlarge my heart! (Psalm 119:32).
When our hearts are healed from the wounds and hurts of the past and betrayals, then the capacity of our heart is enlarged. As our hearts are enlarged, it allows us to not just believe the word and commandments of the Lord, but we are able to take action and run into the future He has for us.
“Clear lots of ground for your tents!
Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big!
Use plenty of rope,
drive the tent pegs deep.
You’re going to need lots of elbow room
for your growing family.
You’re going to take over whole nations;
you’re going to resettle abandoned cities.
Don’t be afraid—you’re not going to be embarrassed.
Don’t hold back—you’re not going to come up short.
You’ll forget all about the humiliations of your youth,
and the indignities of being a widow will fade from memory (Isaiah 54:1-4 MSG).
Isaiah 54 speaks of the future God has for His beloved nation. He has glorious plans for them, but they also had to walk out the consequences of their sin and unbelief and what He had spoken to them. The entire chapter is packed full of promises of what is to come for the chosen people of God.
5 Steps to Expand Your Borders
We can implement these 5-steps to expand the borders of our life to line up with the plans God has for us.
1. Take Action
When God speaks, we must act upon it. We aren’t just to hear and read the Word of God, we are to act upon it. All too often, I have been guilty of hearing from God or reading the Word of God but never taking action to implement it. Our testimony needs to be more than, “This is what God said, isn’t it great.” Instead it needs to be, “This is what God said, then I obeyed, and this is what happened.”
Put the word into action. If you think hearing is what matters most,
you are going to find you have been deceived (James 1:22).
2. Think Big
We often limit what God can do in our lives because of the way we think. Our thinking is one of the limitations to us fully possessing the promises of God. We often stop short or look at things in the natural and what we can accomplish on our own, or with a little help from God. I’m sure you have heard people say, “if your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.” In essence, if you can accomplish it on your own, then you don’t need God. If you don’t need God to accomplish it then you don’t need to activate or grow a deeper level of faith. If we don’t activate and grow deeper faith then we are confined to the restrictions of our own abilities and our own thinking.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible,
but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
Don’t be like King Jehoash (2 Kings 13) and only strike the ground three times because you have limited thinking. God wants us to break free of the limitations and boundaries of what we think is possible and believe Him for the impossible.

3. Don’t Be Afraid
Fear is the great paralyzer and causes us to analyze what we see in the natural instead of believing God for what He is speaking or showing us. Fear wants to trap us and enslave us, but God’s word says we are no longer slaves to fear.
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so
that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received
brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15).
If we are children of God, then we don’t have to be afraid of perusing Him and the plans He has for us.
4. Don’t Hold back
Don’t allow the enemy to intimidate you or hinder you. Don’t allow those old thought patterns or hurtful words from others to stop you. You will not be humiliated, disgraced, or embarrassed. Instead, we need to trust God and obey what God has spoken to us. When we do, He promises we will not come up short.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6)
5. Forget about it
Forget about the past. Forget about the failures, rejection, shame, and hinderances that you dealt with before. Instead look forward and accept the truth of what God is saying to you today. He is making you new. He is doing a new thing. Can you see it?
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland (Isaiah 43:19)

Here is a portion from the word I released for 2020:
Preparation and Expansion
Prepare for the increase in advance. Use your voice, your words to release the sound within you to declare and proclaim. Preparation begins on your face before the ONE who created you and from whom all blessings flow. As you seek Him, He will show you the great and mighty deeds that are to come. He has grand plans for you and His church in this season to come. Plans for expansion, growth and new territory. He is preparing you and His church to advance and expand the borders of our lives. The shame of your youth will be banished as you lay yourselves bare before the Lord. He will move on your behalf. Enlarge the place of your life (tent). (Is 54:1-4) Do not hold back, prepare, strengthen and fortify yourself in the Lord for He will open doors, breakthrough gates and level the mountains. (Is 45:2) He has called you by name He will strengthen you and sustain you. He will prepare the way for increase and expansion. He will lead you to secret places filled with hidden treasure and revelation. (Is 45:3)
Which of these 5 Steps do you:
Find yourself at now?
Find the most difficult?

Are You Ready To Be An Agent of Encouragement?
God isn’t calling us to merely embrace a lifestyle of prophetic encouragement. He is calling us to live it. It needs to be a part of our daily life. It’s about being naturally supernatural. It’s about learning to hear His voice and responding in obedience. It’s about being an undercover agent of encouragement.
I know as you read some of the stories and testimonies I have shared in this study, as well as in The Gift of Prophetic Encouragement, (and on my blog ad podcast) it can seem a little scary or even outside your comfort zone. But with God there is no such thing as a comfort zone.
God is calling us all to #BeTheGift of encouragement the world needs today. He is looking for people who can hear His voice and are willing to respond. He is looking for those with available hearts ready to love the world around them. Will you join me in changing our world one encouraging word at a time?
The Bible Study hit #2 in hot new releases in two categories for the paperback version!!! You can click here or on the image below to check it out on Amazon!
*This Bible Study Book is a companion to my other book “The Gift of Prophetic Encouragement: Hearing the Words of God for others.” It is not required reading to do the Bible Study book, but is encouraged to dive deeper into the content and activations.
YouVersion 7-Day Devotional
I am blessed and honored to have a 7-day devotional on the YouVersion Bible App. YAY!!! It is a great way to kick start the 7- days before my on-line Bible Study starts next week. I would be so blessed if you would check it out and share it with your friends. You can find it here: Be The Gift Someone Needs Today!
Have you had the opportunity to read my new book “The Gift of Prophetic Encouragement: Hearing the Words of God for others.” ? This book is about learning to hear the voice of God in our own life so we can respond to those God bumps and little nudges He gives us on a daily basis. God is calling us to be agents of encouragement and to be the gift the worlds needs today.
We live in a time, where those around us are in desperate need of a real encounter with Jesus and in need of encouragement. We are called to encourage one another daily (Hebrews 3:13), and to build each other up (1 Thessalonians 5:11). My book will teach you how to step out and do just that.
To order your copy today: You can find it at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, OR your favorite online retailer, Plus, newly added, you can now get a signed copy from me. Click Here to order yours today!
We all have the opportunity to #BeTheGift of encouragement others need today.
Do you wonder if God still speaks today? Do you wonder if He would ever speak to you personally? Do you long to hear the voice of God in your life?
Have your read other books on hearing from God, but long for hands on practical application? or are you looking for ways to move you forward hearing from God?
If you answered YES to any of those questions, then I have exactly what you need. I now have an online e-course designed to equip you in understanding that God still speaks today, and He longs to speak directly to you, through His word, and others. He longs to encourage you, strengthen you and comfort you. The training on this site, is fully based on Scripture, and taken from my training manual Releasing God’s heart through Hearing His Voice.
God is speaking, Can you Hear Him?

I have a tendency to go small and practical–completely forgetting that God is not limited by my inabilities.
Michele, you are not alone in the going small department. I often limit God by confining Him to my way of thinking or what I think it is possible. I keep reminding myself, all things are possible with God. 🙂
Congratulations on your podcast getting a wider audience, Debbie! I’m sure you’re a wonderful encouragement to many.
Thank you Lisa! It is such a huge honor and blessing to have been asked to be a part of their podcast network.
Deb, I am so pleased for you and it blesses me to call you friend! xo
Thanks Susan, I feel the same about you. XOXO
I think mine is number five. I think: it didn’t work before so why bother trying again? congratulations, friend!!!
Thank you, Sue! I can relate to that line of thinking as well. I think we all can, but thank you Jesus that we can change moving forward. Blessings
James 1:22 is a conviction for me today. Thank you – I think. 🙂
Oh Lauren, I think it convicts us all from time to time. Blessings. 🙂
What a blessing to see the way the Lord has opened doors for you! It’s such an encouragement to see the truth that we don’t have to bust open opportunities for enlargement, God does it for us if we are willing and obedient to follow Him.
Elizabeth, it is a huge blessings and it is exciting when God opens doors for us. Thank you so much for your encouragement.
So very nice. These are some things that I need to remember. Thanks for sharing this.
