Episode # 123 ~ From Rubble to Redemption Part 2
9/11 20th Anniversary: Navy Chaplain Reflects on Time at Ground Zero
- Jim Jenkins Part 2~ From Rubble to Redemption
Pastor, Chaplain and Author Jim Jenkins has just released his newest book. As a Navy Chaplin Jim was called to serve at Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11. Jim was deeply affected by his experience and as we near the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Jim felt it was time to share his experience. Jim’s message has a strong message of Hope and the power of God’s redemption in our lives and in other circumstances.
In part two, we pick up where we left off last week and we turn the corner to talking about God’s Redemption in the midst of the 9/11. God turns ashes into beauty and He is always at work even in the midst of the hardest of circumstances and in our daily lives. We also discuss just some of the Holy Spirit encounters Jim had while serving at Ground Zero.
“We will never forget” was the mantra that came from 9/11, what better way to honor and remember all who lost their lives and those who served as we near the 20th anniversary of a date that changed our nation forever, than to get a copy of Jim’s book.

Deeply affected by what he experienced at Ground Zero, Jenkins has decided to share his story with the world as we approach the upcoming 20th anniversary of 9/11. In the book, Jenkins reveals intriguing new details about what took place at Ground Zero, including details about his interactions with political leaders like Rudy Giuliani and celebrities like Elton John, both of whom—as Jenkins tells it—appear to have had experiences of a divine nature while at Ground Zero.
While Jenkins has an overall message of hope, he does not spare the reader the realities of what took place in the days following 9/11, recounting the reality of what he personally saw, as well as several painful but touching moments of interaction with victims’ families. He is also vulnerable, divulging many of his personal struggles with PTSD in the years following his service at Ground Zero.
In addition to telling his experiences, Jenkins does his best to impart messages of warning while also pointing the reader, and the nation, toward divine solutions. He believes that America still has reason for hope, even in the midst of political division and social chaos.
