Last week, I left us with the encouragement that it is Time! Time to Arise and Shine, and take our rightful place in the Kingdom.
This week, as I begin to write, I hear the bugle call playing.
Yeah, the bugle call they would play at the beginning of the battle right before the army would charge onto the battle field. Can you hear it, too? You know, after the bugle playing was done all the men would yell “Charge!” as they went to conquer the enemy.
As I write this post, I can sense the anticipation of breakthrough and bounty we have been contending for. It is before us! Let’s Go get it!
I feel as if this is the final week that I will be talking about how to position ourselves to receive the breakthrough and bounty, the prophetic word for 2015 talks about. Remember, in order to have a breakthrough, there must be a battle, and in order to receive bounty, there is a victory which brings rewards!
If we are to position ourselves to receive all that God has for us we need to:
1. Eliminate Fear in our lives and the enemy’s access to us.
2. Understand our identity
a. Whose we are and who we are
i. Sons and daughters
3. Begin to walk in our Inheritance as Sons and Daughters of the King.
4. Begin to walk in our authority as Sons and Daughters of the King.
5. Rise up and take our rightful place to help usher in the Kingdom.
6. Strengthen ourselves in the Lord through Worship.
7. Inquire of the Lord and He will give direct our path.
8. Pursue, conquer, and be victorious!
a. Treat others fairly too
9. Do not be shaken – Stand firm on/in the prophecies/promises of God to you
Points 1-5 above have been covered in the previous weeks post, and today, I will talk about points 6-9 from the life of David at a time when he had lost everything, and his own mighty men were ready to turn on him and kill him. You can read the full passage in 1 Samuel 30.
Let me set the stage for you. David is running from his own King, Saul, who is envious of him, hunting him down to kill him. King Saul is so eaten up with envy and paranoia that he mistakenly thinks David is trying to steal his throne. So he tries to take David’s life on several occasions.
David has to flee to the nation of the Philistines, enemies of Israel, where he and his soldiers fight for the Philistines as mercenaries. But one day, the Philistines are about to fight the Israelites and David and his army are sent home.
When David and his men arrive at their temporary home in Ziklag, they find that the Amalekites, a band of marauders, have raided their town, burnt their homes to the ground, and taken their wives and children hostage.
David and his men were already tired and hungry. They thought they were coming home to the welcome and warmth of their families, to rest and food; but instead, they come home to a shocking scene of emptiness, desolation and loss. These strong warriors, these grown men, were so overwhelmed by their sorrow that the Bible says:
So David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep (1 Samuel 30:4).
Here we have grown battle seasoned war hardened men crying. They are tired, and they wept until they had nothing left. What would you do? I don’t know about you, but I have on a few occasions wept until I couldn’t anymore. I was exhausted, I had no desire or energy to do anything other than curl up in a ball and sleep. I have wanted to give up, I have experienced loss. I have felt like everyone and everything was against me. But God gives us the answer when we feel like we can’t go on. In part of the word for 2015 He said this:
Will you risk it All for the sake of the Kingdom? Don’t be like King Jehoash (2 Kings 13) and respond half-heartedly, stopping short of total victory and annihilation of the enemy (sin) in your life. Instead, be like David, strengthen yourself in the Lord, inquire of Him, and He will lead you to victory. (1 Samuel 30)
It’s Time! It’s time to say YES to the promises and prophecies God has spoken over you. It’s time to press in. It’s time to move forward towards your dreams. It’s time to receive your Breakthrough and Bounty!
I don’t want to be like King Jehoash, do you? I doubt it; we all want to be victorious. We want to have victory just like he did! We can learn from David, and it is important we do so we can move forward in victory. From the passage in Scripture found in 1 Samuel 30, we learn to:
- Strengthen ourselves in the Lord through Worship.
- Inquire of the Lord and He will give direct our path.
- Pursue, conquer, and be victorious!
David was distraught to say the least. His men wanted to kill him, everything he loved was gone and destroyed. He had is moment, and then Scripture tells us “he strengthened himself in the Lord.”
How did he do this? Scripture isn’t clear, but from reading the Psalms and other stories about David, I am sure he got alone with God and worshiped. He poured out his heart to Him and then, he inquired of the Lord. David poured out his heart, he quieted himself to silent the voices and whispers of others, he worshiped, and he sought to hear clear direction from the Lord.
First, David worshiped, and he gained strength and comfort from the Lord.
Secondly, he inquired of the Lord as to what his next step should be. David knew – if God wasn’t going ahead of them, then David wasn’t going either.
Finally, David pursued, conquered, and was victorious! However, he wasn’t just a 50 % or 80% or even 95% victorious. No, David was 100%+ victorious. He recovered it all and then some!
David fought them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled. David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back. He took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, “This is David’s plunder” (1 Samuel 30:17-20).
God wants the same for you and I. He doesn’t want us to gain partial breakthrough and some bounty. He wants us to have it all. He wants us to be victorious in every area of our lives and then some. Scripture tells us that nothing was lost. Everything was recovered that was taken from David and his men plus all the plunder the enemy had taken. David then returned everything to each man that was his and gave them their share even when they didn’t go fight to retrieve it. David also honored the Lord by sending an offering or a gift to the elders in Judah.
No matter what is going on in the natural realm, we need to not be shaken. We need to Stand firm on/in the prophecies and promises of God to us! He has created us to be Victorious.
Are you ready? Yes!
Good, now let’s CHARGE!
