Welcome to Book Review Monday!
Dance with Jesus From Grief to Grace– By Susan B. Mead Book Giveaway.
It’s time again for Book Review Monday and another Giveaway!!
What is book review Monday all about?
I love to read! If you know me, you already know this to be true. If you don’t, well, one of my favorite things to do is read. I love it, but I don’t always feel like I have the time to do so. Being a pastor, an author, and a speaker, one of the questions I always get from people is, “What are you reading?” I suppose it’s because they want to know what I would recommend, what inspires me, or what I’m feeding on.
So, upon receiving an opportunity to giveaway some books, it got me thinking about my love for reading, but I never feel like I can make the time. Then it hit me – I came up with a brilliant idea – Book Review Monday!! Or at least I think it is brilliant. Plus it gives me a reason to read more!
Now, let’s get started with – – –

What is Dance with Jesus from Grief to Grace about? Here is the description from the back of the book.
Grief hits each one of us and can come from so many different directions… Have you lost someone dear to you? A brother, sister, parent, grandparent, family member, friend or a child? A relationship? A body part to cancer or accident? Do you want to experience the joy of moving from broken to blessed? From GRIEF TO GRACE? Do you want God to take your hand and teach you to dance…with Jesus? Yes? Then devour the words in Dance With Jesus: From Grief to Grace! Expect to laugh through the tears and experience a deepening of your faith.
Who is Susan B Mead?
Susan B Mead is a woman in AWE of God and how much He loves each one of us. Her desire – share stories of hope so we can see God’s hand at work in our lives. Dance With Jesus: From Grief to Grace was written as her answer to “what does God want you to do right now?” in the Experiencing God Bible Study.
Susan spent 22+ years with Johnson & Johnson prior to losing her youngest son. She realized that things get broken, discarded or replaced, yet people matter. She chose to retire early to make time for the people who matter most to her, including you, a dear reader.
Grief is never easy, and each person’s experience with it is different.
As I began reading Susan’s book, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew I would probably cry, because she was sharing her story of how she lost her son and how God had brought her through. What I didn’t expect however, was the gamut of emotions I would go through as I read. One minute, I was smiling at the memories she would share, and the next, I had tears running down my face. There were many moments of laughing out loud, and other moments of my heartbreaking for what she was sharing. Then, as I turned the page to read more, I was touched at the grace of a loving God as He ministered to her in the midst of not just the pain of loss but of how He reminded her of the way He was in the midst of all the little daily things of life, like tattoos, and spiders.
This book is written for those who are dealing with grief, but let’s be honest we all deal with grief at some point in our life. The book is quick read with short chapters, because Susan know all too well, that grief can cause short attention spans.
Each Chapter begins with a Scripture, leading into a personal story of how Susan experienced God, and concludes with thought-provoking questions designed to get the reader thinking about their own story and seeing God show up.
Susan’s book arrived at a time when I needed it the most. Not because I had experienced loss, but because I have been in a position to minister to those who are. In recent months many people I know have experienced loss, and what do you say to someone who is experiencing loss? I am grateful to now have a tool, a resource in the form of this book, to give to people in their time of need.
I wish this book would have been around 24 years ago when I suffered a miscarriage. I was a young wife who wanted so badly to be a momma, and when I had made it past the first trimester, I thought all was well. However, it wasn’t and afterwards, I looked for every Christian book I could find on miscarriage, grief, and loss. Why? Susan says it best early on in her book:
“When the tragedy of death strikes us, we need to KNOW that GOD is still alive and restoring His fragile, broken sons and daughters today.”
She goes on to say,
“We are wired to seek God – The One True God – and we want to know He is alive, moving, and making a difference in our – His precious children’s – lives……When we seek Him, God reveals Himself to calm the raging seas of our lies.
Susan’s book gives hope to those who are experiencing loss. Our testimonies and the way God has moved on our behalf, is exactly what others need to believe that if He did it for us, then maybe He will do it for them too. I see myself purchasing multiple copies of Susan’s book so I can give them away to those suffering loss and help them through their journey. I hope you will purchase some as well, for those you know, that may need to move from grief to grace.

Hi, I reviewed this book too. I love it. Please check out my weekly Literacy Musing Mondays hop and link up if you like. 🙂
I’ve seen this in the blogger circles. I’m sure that I would get a lot out of it, but as soon as you said grief, I thought of my good friend who recently lost her husband to cancer, and had the quickest time between diagnosis and death that I’ve ever seen. Only a month or so later, she is now undergoing her own health problems-very early breast cancer…still…my heart breaks for her, and this might be a great book to give her. Thanks for the review and giveaway!
Would love to win a copy of this book and to have it signed also would be amazing! Thanks for sharing on #SocialButterflySunday this week! Hope to see you link up again this Sunday 🙂
