Last week,in my post Climb Every Mountain, I shared, how sometimes God will take a simple movie and connect it to a spiritual principle or message for me. Even as I was writing the post last week, I knew God wanted to speak more about the phrase ‘the mountain makes its own weather.’ I love how God speaks something and then continues to build upon it as we wait and listen.
God is so good at fitting things together, even if we don’t know He’s doing it. The Vlog Post for this week Build Your Kingdom Here was recorded before July 4th, and yet, when I sat down to write last weeks blog post on July 6th, I still didn’t connect the dots. God was already brewing the “something more” in regards to His spiritual message about climbing mountains. He was already moving and breathing in my spirit something that His Spirit was already stirring in my heart.
Don’t you just love How God orchestrates all things together, even while we are unaware?!
As I kept thinking and meditating on the phrase ‘the mountain makes its own weather,’ I was struck by the reason the mountain makes its own weather. I researched it and in fact, because Everest and other mountains have such high elevations, they basically have their very own atmosphere and their own weather, well sort of.
Now, I am not a scientist, nor am I a meteorologist, but the gist of what I understand in nontechnical terms, is that because of the elevation at different places on the mountain, it changes the air flow, which can cause sudden or different changes in the weather, than what is happening at lower elevations, or other areas on the mountain.
What does this have to do with us spiritually? Everything!
You see, WE … You and I, are to be atmosphere changers! Yes, we have the ability to change the atmosphere or the environment just with our very presence. We are called to be salt and light in a dark place (Matthew 5:13-16). We also have the ability to change the atmosphere with the very words we Speak.
Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
How are we to change the atmosphere you ask?
If we allow the Holy Spirit to move and breathe in and through us, as we travel the mountains of our life, we can change the atmosphere.
God is the ultimate atmosphere changer. If we are believers and in relationship with Him, then we too are atmosphere changers. The Spirit of God resides in Us, so everywhere we go, He is there with us. He can change the climate and atmosphere on the mountain, if we allow Him too. Where there hopelessness, He can infuse Hope. Where there is discouragement, or despair, He can pour out encouragement. Where there is sadness, he can release joy, and where there is no peace, He can rain down peace. Where there is hate, He can flood the place with LOVE.
The Kingdom Of God is LIFE, hope, all the fruits and the gifts of the Spirit operating to the fullest. We need to release the Kingdom of Heaven here on the earth and allow His Spirit in us to revive not just those dry desolate places in our lives, but also in the lives of others.
Have you seen the bumper stickers? or maybe the Pinterest pictures? or maybe you have heard the quotes, that some people attribute to Mahatma Gandhi? …. Which quote is that? This one:
“Be the change you wish to see in the world”
There is some powerful truth to these words. (By the way, even though people attribute this to Gandhi, it isn’t exactly a direct quote.)
Like the lyrics in the song say by Bryan and Katie Torwalt, “When you walk into the Room.” When He – God walks into the room everything changes.
He lives in us therefore, when we walk into the room, we can change the atmosphere as well.
Church, It’s Time! It is time for us to begin to change the atmosphere and the world around us.
Speak words of life and hope. Love do not hate. Don’t dwell on the negative, instead look for what God is saying or doing in regards to the situation. Then pray and speak inline with what He is doing/saying. Encourage others by speaking or pronouncing blessings over them. Release the Kingdom of God everywhere you go!
When you walk into the room
Darkness starts to tremble
At the light that you bring
And when you walk into the room
Every heart starts burning
And nothing matters more
Than just to sit here at your feet
And worship you
We worship you
We love you
We’ll never stop
We can’t live without you, Jesus
We love you
And we can’t get enough
All this is for you, Jesus
When you walk into the room
Sickness starts to vanish
Every hopeless situation ceases to exist
And when you walk into the room,
The dead begin to rise
‘Cause there is resurrection life
In all You do
Come and consume, God
All we are
We give you permission
Our hearts are Yours
We want You
We want You

This is a great reminder of how our actions each day affect those around us. It is so important that we keep our focus on God so that He can use us to bring hope and change to the world.
Thanks Courtney – that is it exactly! Keeping our eyes on God is the key. I so appreciate your comments
I was reminded of the verse that says in Him we live and move and have our being. It does seem like He’s the very breath we breathe! I know that all too often I forget to live with His power within me – the Holy Spirit, the wind that moves my spirit!
Great post, and I am so encouraged by your words today!
Sharon – That is an excellent verse and I love the song that goes with it too.. my kids used to sing it in VBS years ago… I am so glad that you were encouraged today! Blessings on you as well.
Love this, Debbie. A couple of years ago, I read a great book called Pursue the Intentional Life by Jean Fleming, and the quote that resonated the most with me ties in to your words here: “Every life creates an atmosphere.” I’ve kept those words on my desktop to remind me how important it is to respond with kindness and look forward with hope.
Thanks Lyli! I really like that quote too, sounds like it was a very good book as well. Blessings to you as well
May God help us to be atmosphere changers wherever we go. May our lives point to Him. Blessings to you, Debbie! I’m your neighbor at #LetUsGrow.
Yes and Amen! Let our lives point to HIM!
Amen, Debbie! I so agree, the more we are open to receive the Spirit of Christ, when He walks into the room, the more we will carry the aroma of His Presence with us when we walk out into the world. Many blessings to you!
Beth – Yes! Absolutely, the more we are open to receive from the Spirit, the more we carry His aroma – I love how you put it. Thank you for sharing here today.
Yes, yes, yes! We have our own weather with the Holy Spirit in us! Love this, Debbie. I needed to be reminded this week about who I am regardless of my mistakes. God bless you!
I am so glad this was an encouragement for you this week! Regardless of mistakes, or anything else – the mistakes and other things do not dictate who we are. Blessings to you
Thank you for these uplifting words! I love how even the background of the song has a mountain in the distance. Such good thoughts to carry in our hearts, to remember that we are reflections of Jesus everywhere we go! –Blessings to you!
Bettie – you are so welcome – I am so glad my words are an encouragement to you and Yes we are and need to be reflections of Jesus everywhere we go!!!!
Oh my goodness, this is so true. I think that this is one of the biggest things that Christians miss out on. Not just being a Christian on Sunday when you’re sitting in a pew. And not just when you are preaching at the top of your lungs. You should live your life so that everyone can see that you have the love of Christ inside of you. This is the biggest thing we can do to show others the way to Christ, make sure the love radiates out of you and people will be drawn to you. Then you can help lead them to God so they can find their own way. Love this. Change the atmosphere!
Yes, Yes, Yes! Live your life, and love others in such a way that everyone – everywhere can see that something is different about your life and the way you live it. Can you tell, I am passionate about this?!
