Have you ever noticed that often times when God speaks we pay close attention to it at the time, but as time passes it is important to keep it in front of you and ask the Lord to reveal more. But more than that, it is important to act upon what He has spoken or revealed. We often have a role to play and need to align or in some cases realign ourselves up with what He has spoken.
Write down this vision.
Write it clearly on tablets, so that anyone who reads it may run (Habakkuk 2:2 The Voice).
Just ask Habakkuk was entrusted to write down what was being told to him, we need to do the same. When we seek God for a word for the year, or ask Him to speak to us about decisions we need to make or what’s to come, we need to record and write down what He says. But we need to go beyond just writing things out. We need to keep it in front of us and often times we need to take action based on what is released or revealed to us.
So, for the next several weeks, I am going to break down portions of the Prophetic Word for 2020 I released publicly, corporately, and posted here on the blog on January 2, 2020.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to read it, you can find it by clicking here. Or on the image below.
This is week #2 of “Digging Deeper” into what the Lord placed on my heart for 2020.
If you missed last week’s post you can read it by clicking the image below:
GO NORTH!
“Mom, I felt like God gave me some direction today.” My daughter said as we were sitting and catching up after a busy week.
“Great, I would love to hear all about it. What direction did God give you?” I replied.
Her reply was simply two words, “Go North.”
“What?” I looked at her to see if she was being her funny self or if she was serious. Her and her father share a similar sense of humor. One that is often hard to tell when they are serious or trying to pull one over on me. She didn’t have even a hint of a smirk or smile like she was joking which left me to believe she was being serious.
“Okay,” I responded drawing out the “O” for added emphasis and the underlining, yet unspoken request for her to expand beyond the direction she would be heading was north. Living in Washington State, there are not a lot of places to the North she could go without going to Canada or Alaska, so I was more than just a little confused.
As I kept waiting for her to expand, she just kept looking back at me waiting in silence with a serious look on her face. Finally, after what seemed to be an eternity, but was probably less than a minute I said, “You are going to have to give me more to go on than just God is calling you North? North to where? North to Seattle? North to Canada? North to Alaska? <oh and yes, I did sing that one … my dad taught me well… “North to Alaska the rush is on!”>
My daughter burst into laughter, “NO Mom, not that kind of North – You know – Go North as in head toward God?”
#God is inviting us to Go North! Share on X
I was still perplexed. Obviously, I didn’t get it, or understand what she was talking about. She could see from the look on my face. So, she went on to explain. “When I was reading today during my devotionals, I was reading in Deuteronomy and I could get past chapter 2 verse 3. So I looked it up in several translations and here is what I read:”
Deuteronomy 2:3
“You have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn north (NIV).
“You’ve wandered around this mountain long enough. Turn north (The Voice).
Then God said, “You’ve been going around in circles in these hills long enough; go north (MSG).
During her quiet time that day, she felt like God was nudging her to break out of the cycle she was in. She needed to stop wandering around with the same issues and situations. Now was the time to deal with them, get healing, give forgiveness, and stop circling around the mountain.
Ever since that day, several years ago, we adapted the saying “Go North” in our house when it was evident things were holding us back. Maybe it was unforgiveness, offense, or we needed healing from a hurt. No matter what it was, the time was now to stop wandering around the mountain. Deal with it, forgive, let go, receive healing, and head toward God.
During this time of “Divine Reset” we find ourselves in, I have gone back to pray through the words God has spoken to me. I have been reading my journal pages and spending more time in His Word too. When God speaks, we need to slow down and process what He’s saying. Sometimes we can get busy or focused on seeking new words or revelation from God that we don’t take the time to really digest, dig into, and meditate on the ones we already have.
When #God speaks, we need to slow down and process what He’s saying. Share on X
A Portion of the word I released for 2020 says this:
Healing & Endurance
This is a year for us, the church, to run with the horses. (Jer. 12:5) It’s a season of healing and endurance a season of preparation and expansion. Don’t go around the mountain any longer, it’s time to go North. (Duet 2:3) No more excuses, delays or holding onto the hurts of the past. No more complaining, deflecting or hiding. It’s a season of acceptance, forgiveness and moving forward. God is calling us, the church, to run the race before us with power, endurance and expansion in our lives. It’s time to let go and release the wounds of the past and walk in the fullness of ALL God has for us.
In order for us to run with the horses in the coming season, we need to take the time and pursue our healing. We all have “things” and “stuff” we need to deal with. This is a season where God is saying:
-
-
stop making excuses
-
receive your healing
-
stop being offended
-
release forgiveness
-
stop complaining and deflecting
-
stop hiding
-
be a victor not a victim
-
receive His love and acceptance
-
receive His grace and mercy
-
Today is the day to stop wandering around the mountain and enter into a season of healing. In this season where things have slowed down around you, we too, need to slow down and get before the Lord. We need to get unstuck and break free of circling the same issues. We need to allow Him to walk us on a different path that leads us North towards His plans and purposes for our life.
This past week, I found myself beginning to circle the mountain again over an issue I thought that was long since resolved. However, I didn’t run away, hide, or try to the circle the mountain again. Instead, I positioned myself before the Lord and gave Him my heart. He showed me something I needed to deal with, and I received another deeper layer of healing.
Let’s begin to make space and prepare to give God complete access to every area of our heart and our life so we can walk in total freedom unhindered. It’s time to receive our complete healing and prepare to run the race ahead with endurance.
Let’s all come out of this Divine Reset healed, whole, and ready to go!

Are You Ready To Be An Agent of Encouragement?
God isn’t calling us to merely embrace a lifestyle of prophetic encouragement. He is calling us to live it. It needs to be a part of our daily life. It’s about being naturally supernatural. It’s about learning to hear His voice and responding in obedience. It’s about being an undercover agent of encouragement.
I know as you read some of the stories and testimonies I have shared in this study, as well as in The Gift of Prophetic Encouragement, (and on my blog ad podcast) it can seem a little scary or even outside your comfort zone. But with God there is no such thing as a comfort zone.
God is calling us all to #BeTheGift of encouragement the world needs today. He is looking for people who can hear His voice and are willing to respond. He is looking for those with available hearts ready to love the world around them. Will you join me in changing our world one encouraging word at a time?
The Bible Study hit #2 in hot new releases in two categories for the paperback version!!! You can click here or on the image below to check it out on Amazon!
*This Bible Study Book is a companion to my other book “The Gift of Prophetic Encouragement: Hearing the Words of God for others.” It is not required reading to do the Bible Study book, but is encouraged to dive deeper into the content and activations.
YouVersion 7-Day Devotional

I am blessed and honored to have a 7-day devotional on the YouVersion Bible App. YAY!!! It is a great way to kick start the 7- days before my on-line Bible Study starts next week. I would be so blessed if you would check it out and share it with your friends. You can find it here: Be The Gift Someone Needs Today!
Have you had the opportunity to read my new book “The Gift of Prophetic Encouragement: Hearing the Words of God for others.” ? This book is about learning to hear the voice of God in our own life so we can respond to those God bumps and little nudges He gives us on a daily basis. God is calling us to be agents of encouragement and to be the gift the worlds needs today.
We live in a time, where those around us are in desperate need of a real encounter with Jesus and in need of encouragement. We are called to encourage one another daily (Hebrews 3:13), and to build each other up (1 Thessalonians 5:11). My book will teach you how to step out and do just that.
To order your copy today: You can find it at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, OR your favorite online retailer, Plus, newly added, you can now get a signed copy from me. Click Here to order yours today!
We all have the opportunity to #BeTheGift of encouragement others need today.
Do you wonder if God still speaks today? Do you wonder if He would ever speak to you personally? Do you long to hear the voice of God in your life?
Have your read other books on hearing from God, but long for hands on practical application? or are you looking for ways to move you forward hearing from God?
If you answered YES to any of those questions, then I have exactly what you need. I now have an online e-course designed to equip you in understanding that God still speaks today, and He longs to speak directly to you, through His word, and others. He longs to encourage you, strengthen you and comfort you. The training on this site, is fully based on Scripture, and taken from my training manual Releasing God’s heart through Hearing His Voice.
God is speaking, Can you Hear Him?

Debbie,
Awesome post. It hit the nail on the head for me for issues I have and also my daughter. She is playing the role of the victim and holding onto anger that is tearing her apart from the inside. So true how we can keep circling the mountain when what we really need to do is the hard work of “Going North.”
Blessings,
Bev xx
Thank you so much Bev! I so understand how when we hold onto the anger and stay in the victim role it eats us up. It takes effort to initially break out of the cycle of circling the mountain, but the more we do it the easier it becomes. Praying for you and your daughter. Blessings
It feels great to be done with an issue that tried to destroy my life. Not only am I done, but I’m also finished! Does it pop into my mind from time to time? Yes. I’m only human. God is giving me the strength day by day to keep my hands completely off of it. I want to come out of this Divine reset healed, whole, and ready to go!
Congratulations Yvonne!
That is a huge victory. You are an overcomer and yes you survived something that tried to take you you. I still have things pop into my mind from time to time too, that is where we take that thought captive and remind it we have overcome and we have moved on. Praying for continued strength for you as you move forward. Blessings
There’s so much hope in the idea of a Divine Reset. Even if we’ve been chasing our tail, running in circles, we can hear the voice of God telling us to change or direction!
Oh, I agree Michele. we all need hope during this time whether we are chasing our tail or running in circles….God is so ready to direct us and guide us. <3 Blessings
Deb, at the beginning of this covid debacle the Lord told me we were entering a time of preparation. I knew exactly what He meant and I commit to Him being excellent during this season. To be His hands and feet. I’ve tried to be in this wee village of ours (which you have so gracefully visited!!!). I want #18 to be a place of hope because when we have HOPE it changes everything. Love you my friend.
Susan, #18 is most certainly a place of hope and a shelter of peace for all who pass by and live in your village. It is a respite and a calming place. Isn’t it great how the Lord speaks to us and lets us know in advance what He’s up to. Love to you as well, my friend!
I don’t do a great job of recording and keeping what He’s telling me in front of me. This is great encouragement for me.
That is awesome Lauren! Just like David strengthened himself in the Lord, we can too as we keep what He’s speaking in front of us. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this reminder of the importance to listen, give heed to and take action on the things God has spoken to us. Too often we tend to think, “oh, that’s a good word-thanks God!” and then just move on to seeking the next word!
You are most welcome Elizabeth. I too am guilty of receiving the word and then moving on – not always forgetting it, but not always keeping it in front of me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
