Every year I seek God and ask Him for a prophetic word for the church pertaining to the year to come.
Here is the word for 2019 and what I believe God shared with me about what the year ahead will entail for His beloved people (the church). This is different than my personal one word, which I will share another week.
Since I reference the word that I shared for 2018, you can read it by clicking here:
Greater Things in 2019
God is calling us to put out into the deep in 2019[1]. He is calling us to go deeper and trust Him more.
2018 was a year of new beginnings and a year of Promise and Destiny. Which brought about intense warfare and spiritual battles.
2019 will bring breakthrough, increase, and transformation in our lives.[2]
It will be a year of drawing closer to God and a year of walking in the miraculous. 2019 is a year to possess the promises of the Bible and walk in the “Greater Things”[3] He promised us.
God is calling us to a season of unrivaled and incomparable miracles. His Glory will be on display for all to see.[4]
As we put out into the deep this year and possess the promises of God. We must continue to stake out and claim new territory for His Kingdom. This is to be a year of fruitful abundance.
As breakthrough comes so too will come increase. It will be a year of unprecedented fruitfulness and abundance[5], particularly in the area of Spiritual manifestations (miracles, signs, wonders) and an increase in the number of souls added to the Kingdom. (Harvest)
God is calling us up and out. His Spirit is calling to our Spirit to Arise and Awaken![6] Deep is calling to deep.[7] We must respond to the call.
It’s time to go deeper.
It’s time to step out and obey.[8]
It’s time to trust and go where He’s calling us.[9]
It’s time to be transformed[10] to the Kingdom and not conform to this world[11].
It’s time to draw closer to God.[12]
It’s time to walk in the miraculous!
The church, and we as individuals who make up the church, are being called in this season to walk in the “Greater Things” which Jesus talked about in John 14:12-14:
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. ( NIV)
This is a pivotal year for the Church. It is key this year that the body of Christ understands her identity and begins to walk in her spiritual authority. It is essential that we draw closer to God and put out into the deep. We must come together in unity and love, so we can begin to walk in the promises of the Bible. This year, the harvest will be great for the Kingdom of God, but it will come about as we all work together to advance God’s agenda here on the earth.
As we read the book of Acts, we see the church having a powerful effect. They added to their numbers daily,[13] they had miracles, signs and wonders manifesting in their midst[14] and they were of one heart, one mind walking in unity and obedience to Christ.[15]
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all (Acts 4:32-33 NIV)
These are the same things God longs for His Church to be walking in today. This year, 2019 is a year to possess the promises of the Bible. It is the year His Bride will awaken and arise and answer the call! It is the year to walk in the fullness of God’s ‘Greater Things’!
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved (Acts 2:42-47 NIV).

Happy New Year Debbie. Thanks for inviting me to this space.
Every word of this post speaks to the deep parts of my soul. For me, 2018 was a year of new beginnings and a year of Promise and Destiny which brought about intense warfare and spiritual battles.
I believe 2019 will bring breakthrough, increase, and transformation in my life. I’m believing God for something great in 2019. I see it, I feel it, I taste it yet I don’t know how it will happen apart from him. I’m diligently doing my part and trusting him to do what only he can do.
When it happens, minds will be blown including mine. The best part about it is HE will get all the glory and all the praise because it can’t happen without him. I believe in my heart that the time is right. I’m so excited as I live with expectancy.
Thank you for writing this post. Blessings to you and yours and all that you touch in 2019.
Happy New Year to you as well Yvonne! You are most welcome for the invitation. I am so glad you could stop by and join us today.
WOO HOO! So encouraged to hear this word spoke to you and resonated in the depths of you soul. Thank you for taking the time to share with me about how the word spoke to you and all that you are expecting God to do in 2019. It is exciting to read and I can feel your passion through the words you wrote. I am looking forward to hearing all the amazing things God does for you and through you this year. Keep living with expectancy! Blessings to you and yours as well.
It sounds like we are in for a wild ride in the church in 2019. Hang onto your hats! I am ready!
Hang on to our hats and buckle those seatbelts, God is on the move and I am excited for the church in this coming season. Blessings to you.
Hi, Debbie…just wanted to thank you for hosting and inviting me to this lovely link-up! Happy Friday Eve! 😉
Elizabeth, thank you for joining us here at the linkup today and you are most welcome for the invite. I hope you will be back to join us again.
Thank you, Debbie, for embracing the church. So many lone ranger Christians try to go solo, and so many speak disparagingly of the Bride of Christ. We are all sinners, but we are called to do life in community. It’s a blessing to hear your positive words today.
Michele, you are so welcome. I am so passionate about the church, God loves the church, and while the people aren’t perfect in the church, it’s still the Bride of Christ. I do agree with you, that so many are lone rangers, that is never a good thing, we were created and built for relationship and God wants us to work and partner together, doing life in community. I am so glad you were blessed by reading my words today. Happy New Year to you and words.
Woohoo! Our word for the year is breakthrough. I believe it with my whole heart. Loved this, Debbie.
Karen – that is awesome! There is definitely going to be breakthrough this year, especially if that is your word! I am so excited to see how that will play our in your life as well. Thanks for sharing.
Happy New Year! laurensparks.net
Happy New Year to you as well Lauren. Thanks for being here.
Thank you for hosting. I love sharing with your readers and always find inspiration here. Have a blessed week! #OverTheMoon #ThursdayFavoriteThings
you are most welcome Marilyn 🙂
Debbie, I absolutely love the hope and encouragement in this post. The call to go deeper and expect greater things is at the heart of who God is. Happy New Year, and here is to a very blessed and hope-filled 2019!
Thank you, Crystal! It is so at the heart of who God is, isn’t it? I love that about Him. Blessings to you and you may your New Year be blessed and hope filled as well. 🙂
What wonderful encouragement! I’m a member of a core team that’s planting a new church this year, and your word spoke directly to our mission–you got me all fired up! As a team, we’ve been studying Acts together to establish their example as a foundation for us. And one of our first initiatives is to work with an existing church to create a 24/7 prayer center for the Western New York region. I’m excited to see the Spirit manifest in powerful ways!
Thank you!
Amanda ! I was so exciting to read your comment this morning. I love that you are all fired up – I am too – and I love that you are on the East Coast and I am on the West Coast, God is on the move from coast to coast. My husband and I pastor a church out here in WA and we spent the summer working our way through the book of Acts as a Church! WE called it the Summer of the Spirit – we didn’t finish, but paused for the Christmas Season and will be getting back to you this year. I love how you and your church are partnering with an existing church to establish a 24/7 prayer center. Keep me updated on all the exciting things God is doing in your area – it’s going to be awesome! Blessings
A year full of breakthrough— love it! I’m ready for some breakthrough in my own life too!
Happy New Year to you!
I am so ready for breakthrough too! I am excited for 2019 and the possibilities that lie ahead. Happy New Year to you too!
This word is what God has been speaking to our church. Thank you for this confirmation!
Elizabeth – that is so fantastic! I love that it is confirmation for what God has already been speaking to your church. God is so amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice post and I know that 2019 will be amazing for you. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Thank you so much Patrick! I pray that 2019 is amazing for you as well.
May this be a year of personal renewal and revival in the church and world!
Amen Janet! I am praying it is. 🙂
May we all aspire to whatever “greater things” God is calling us to. I’ve seen several people who have chosen the word breakthrough for their #oneword this year. It’s a good word. Blessings to you, Debbie! I’m your neighbor at #Let’sHaveCoffee.
Gayl, it is so good to be your neighbor! I have been seeing a lot of people choose the word Breakthrough this year as well. It’s an exciting #oneword for sure! Blessings to you as well.
My church’s word for 2019 is Upgrade. This is a year to improve our own inward relationships with God and as an outgrowth, to improve our outward reach to the community around us. God is doing a new thing if we just get on board with it.
Tracey, that is a great Word for a Church! Love it. Our word for our church is positioned for miracles. 🙂 We had one a few years ago about Growing Deeper and Growing Taller in relationship with God and others. I love how God is doing a new thing with us and His church as a whole.
Love the prophetic words you shared. I’m also excited about your Be the Gift Bible plan on You version. I am starting it this week. Thank you for being such a blessing in my life.
Thank you, Mary! and YAY for starting the YouVersion – It’s fun that the YouVersion came out right before the online Bible Study starts. Go God! I am blessed to have you in my life too, but you are most welcome too. 🙂 HUGS
