God has given each of us a mantle, or rather a specific task only we can do, and when we partner with the Holy Spirit we are clothed with a mantle of anointing to do this specific task.
Sometimes however, we put on other “labels” or “mantles” others give us instead of the one God has given us… Watch this weeks video blog to see what I am talking about.
Is your mantle on? Which Mantle are you wearing? Just like Blind Bartimaeus, are you ready to throw off the bad label or “mantle” that has become your identity?
Just like Bartimaeus had to throw of his old identity, we need to do the same? Then we put on the new identity that comes from God.
When we call upon the name of Jesus He will give us a new identity and new sight to see the things He has for us.
Will you pick up the mantle that God has given you ?
After thought: It’s completely a God thing that this post was already scheduled to go out, because, even time I think of Blind Bartimaeus, I think of our previous pastor and mentor Jerry Tyler. My husband and I now pastor the church that he retired from a few years ago. Pastor Jerry always referred to him as Blind Bart, which totally made me relate to Bartimaeus as a real person.
I like to step into the Bible stories and be a participant and Pastor Jerry had a way of making that possible when he preached. I dedicate this post to Pastor Jerry’s memory. He passed away this past Sunday, and while those of us he left behind on earth have heavy hearts, we also are rejoicing becasue we know he is in the arms of his Savior, laughing, pain free, and asking Jesus every question he always wanted answered.

Great Vlog! I found you via the #RaRaLinkup. So glad I did. Wearing my mantle with confidence in the one who placed it over me.
Praying God blesses the reach of your webinars so more people learn to hear his voice.

Hi Sherry! and welcome – so very glad to have you as a neighbor and so good to have you visit as well. I love that you are wearing your mantle with confidence – keep on – keeping on and thank you for your prayers. Your prayers really do mean a lot to me as I have just launched the webinars and I am very passionate about women and men being able to hear His voice. I hope to see you again. Blessings.
Debbie, I confess I never knew what the word “mantle” meant in this context.
I found your insight about being careful not to pick up a mantle that is not the one chosen by God for you full of wisdom.
I was sorry to hear about the loss of your dear Pastor friend, but rejoice with you that He is now in the presence of the Savior.
Blessings,
Karen, thank you so much for your kind words about my pastor friend. You know, for the longest time, I never knew what a mantle was either, however, when Pastor Jerry talked about Blind Bart he explained that mantles were articles of clothig that signified a persons job, task responsibility, etc. In Bartimaeus’ case, his mantle was one that a beggar would wear, so that all who saw him would know that he was a beggar. I am glad I was able to help bring some clarity to you. Blessings to you as well.
Love this story, Debbie! I am sorry for your loss too. I know you will see him again someday friend. I pray you had a great week. *hugs* Bless you!!! (I am behind on my linking up at places this week, hope to be back next week as long as they aren’t merging my site to the new one LOL. Yes more updates. Again.)
Thank you Meg. I know I will see him again too, I just feel the loss of a mentor and someone who gave me wise council and stood beside me for years and lent his support. I know he is rejoicing in heaven and is quite happy. Oh, and I get being behind in linking up – thanks for the virtual hugs. More updates? so exciting to see what more you have done. Yay
Thank you for sharing at Literacy Musing Mondays. Blessings!
thanks Brandi and Blessings to you too 🙂
