This week, I am attending the She Speaks Conference in North Carolina. I am so excited to be attending this event for the first time. First I am excited because it is part of my #ONEWORD for the year, which is… Advance. A part of my word “Advance,” I will be meeting with a few publishers while I am at She Speaks, so your prayers are greatly appreciated. Second, I am so looking forward to meeting some of you, my blogging friends, face to face. YAY!!!
**Update: As soon as I tried to post this message the server with all my content when down and was down for 3+ days. Bad enough right? But then I head to a writing retreat with a group of blogging friends and the wifi – mysteriously goes out!?!? Can’t even get connected with me cell phone.
Ok God, what’s up?
Oh, it’s a Spiritual attack? OK going into Warfare mode!
I fully believe the message in this post is powerful and will give us a Kingdom perspective. Remember, Our battle is not against flesh and blood!
For those of you who have been praying for me … She Speaks was absolutely the best! I had very successful and promising appointments with two publishers. For now, I pray and trust God in what will come of them. Keep praying with and for me.
There has been a lot of chaos and craziness happening in our nation and around the world the last few weeks. I’m sure you have noticed it too. Right?
As I sit down to write a post that is to go live, in a less than 3 hours, my mind keeps wandering back to a post I wrote just about a year ago called Flaming Arrows.
It seems that everywhere I turn, people are under physical, mental, and spiritual attack. My friends, my family, members of our church, whole groups of people… the list goes on. One just has to turn on the TV to see some of these attacks.
Just this week, I have talked and ministered to people struggling with cancer. People struggling with depression. People dealing with relationship issues, addiction issues, rejection, hate, and intolerance issues. This list goes on and on…
More and more, it seems, God continually needs to reminds me that our fight is not against flesh and blood. Yet, it is sometimes hard to remember that, especially when it’s the flesh and blood people who are the ones “doing the stuff” to cause such hurt and pain to others.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints (Ephesians 6:10 – 18)
I’ve decided to listen to the prompting of the Lord, and because of my travels, I am going to reuse the post from before. I pray that it ministers to you and blesses you this week. Let us all remember:
Flaming Arrows
July 30, 2015
The arrow was flying fast and straight. It should have hit the mark – dead center, but at the last moment a gust of wind knocked it slightly off course. It missed the bull’s-eye completely; in fact, it didn’t even hit the target at all. The archer bellowed loudly, unable to contain his fury. There was no possible way that he could have missed. He had sized up the target, measured, planned, and studied everything that could possibly go wrong.
What had happened to foil his well-laid plan?
How could he tell his commander that he had failed to hit the mark?
He hadn’t even come close. Shoulders slumped and bent in defeat, he turned to walk away when something caught his attention. His eyes swung back to the target, perhaps he hadn’t missed after all….
The wind had stopped, and a light misty rain had begun. Standing in the middle of the field, unharmed, was the target raising her hands. She was dancing and singing praise to her God.
She seemed like such an easy mark. He had been targeting her for weeks, filling her mind with doubt, causing discouragement, and foiling her plans. She seemed so defeated and helpless that ….. (click here to continue reading)

That one word “advance” is powerful and motivational, as is this post. Thank you for sharing at #LMM and Tuned In Parents, Debbie. Keep advancing!
Elle – I am finding it to be a very powerful word indeed. Thank you so much for coming by for a visit.
Hi Debbie, Isn’t God so good! He takes what the enemy meant for harm (erasing your words, and disconnecting the wifi,) and turns it for good by having you re-post an entry from a year ago, that is so needed again today! I love the pictures of the children praising and praying. Their simple hearts that flow-over with worship are so beautiful! May Jesus help me to praise Him with that child-like heart of trust! –Blessings!
Bettie – Yes! God is absolutely good and He always makes a way to turn around what the enemy means to harm. Thank you so much for stopping by and yes, may that be the prayer of all our hearts – let us have child like faith and hearts to trust God fully. Amen! Blessings to you too.
This is so true. It’s a good reminder not to become discouraged but to recognize we are in a spiritual battle–and to trust in God to help us through it.
Kathleen – Yes, TRUST in God is a huge key during times of spiritual battles. thank you for stopping by today!
Debbie, I found your post “Flaming Arrows” riveting. I read it like a book. You truly have a gift for drawing very effective word pictures.
I LOVED how you talked about how our own prayers are instrumental in the spiritual battle of someone else AND that we can take comfort that others are praying for us in our own spiritual battles, but most especially, that our God is an ever present help.
I read somewhere that just like someone knows the signs of a heart attack and takes heed, it is important that we know the signs of a spiritual attack and take to calling on the name of the Lord, our strong tower for He is mighty to save.
Thanks for sharing this edifying post.
Thank you Karen! Your words mean a lot to me and are very encouraging. I really like what you shared too – it is very important that we know the signs ad call on God in our time of need. I so appreciate you sharing that with me today and thank you for stopping by!
Yes, it’s easy to forget this when we watch the news or talk about the issues. I have recently heard the Holy Spirit whispering this reminder to me again, so thank-you for high-lighting this!
Brooke you are so welcome – Holy Spirit has been reminding me of it a lot more lately too. thanks for stopping by today, I sure hope you will come back again soon. Blessings
What a wonderful post – I’m stopping by from the TGI Saturdays blog hop.
Thanks
Angie
HI Angie – thanks for stopping by – I am sp glad you found me at TGI Saturday
Debbie, thanks for reminding us who the enemies really are. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Thanks for sharing at #LMMLinkup!
Gayl – you are most welcome – it seems lately, I needed to be reminded, so I decided to share it. I appreciate you stopping by to comment
When we understand the enemy, we are so much better equipped for the war! Love the persective you give here and the encouragement to find strength in prayer. There is power in the name of Jesus!!
Crystal – there sure is power in the name of Jesus! and thank you. you are so right, we are way better equipped when we can understand the enemy. I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and comment 🙂
Debbie, first off congratulations with the success in finding two Publishers who are interested in helping the word that you’ve been given to be presented to the entire world. That is such a powerful thing. I love the flying arrows post, it really pulls me in as you have used people to relate the message. What a wonderful way to visualize God’s armor. And that if we continue to have faith He will be with us.
Nikki – thank you so much – it felt good to have someone like not 1 but both ideas that I had shared — I still have no idea what will come of it, but I was very much encouraged through the process. No, I wait, pray and see. I am so glad you enjoyed this post. I really like writing like this, but don’t do it as often because it takes a little more time to sit, pray, and ask God for a picture/story/message. 🙂 Blessings
