Speaking and Pronouncing Blessings over others is a very Biblical thing to do. In fact, there are many examples throughout Scripture of blessings. Plan to join me this Thursday on the blog as I dive more into teaching on speaking and pronouncing blessings over others.
Hebrews 3:13 tell us:
But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
We are called to be light in a dark world,
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
We are commanded to bring positive encouragement to a negative and dying world.
Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
There is power in our words alone.
Proverbs 18:21Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

We are so quick to pronounce curses on people who disappoint us or get in our way, aren’t we? in traffic, at the store, really anywhere that we are delayed or inconvenienced. I wonder what would happen if we chose instead to pronounce blessings on people… even strangers? Even if it didn’t change the situation, it would certainly alter our attitude!
Karen you are so right 🙂 I agree with you on all the things you mentioned… We are way too quick to speak negative and unkind things over others and I think that if we instead pronounced blessings, not only would our attitude change, but we would begin to see things change for others as well.
Yes! May we all be creating atmospheres for blessings and lifting each other up. It’s so important what we say – and write!
Jerrelea – YES!! it is just as important with what we write as what we say – and if we lift others up – the atmosphere changes for everyone.
We do under estimate the power of our words — especially when we see in Scripture that when someone was blessed by another, he was blessed indeed!
Oh Michele – great point – others were blessed indeed!!! I love that, thanks for sharing that 🙂
I always try to give words of encouragement when I speak with people during the day, or even at a networking event or party situation. I think that it helps them through their day, to see that they are special. It seems as if they walk a bit taller and that their light shines brighter. I have not phrased these into blessings, and I can see how much more powerful the words of encouragement would be phrased in a different way. Thanks!
Nikki – I can see how you would already be speaking words of encouragement to others as you go about your day – it is so a part of who you are!!! and it comes out in your writing and your comments too… Doesn’t feel great to watch other peoples demeanor and attitudes change in an instant just by the very words that are spoken over them? It is amazing that God let’s us be a part of blessing others.
Debbie, I had not got to stop by to watch this vlog yet and boy what a blessing! I love that guys testimony! It reminds me of my husband and I, and how different we are in our relationship with God -and I am learning more and more that God is so not in a box!
Hahaha Meghan, I can so relate – my husband used to say to me all the time, I am not like you ! I said -I know, but yet, I kept expecting him to hear God speak or see what God was doing just like I did…I would always get frustrated when I realized what I was doing, I of course apologized and stepped out of the way and watched God do amazing things in my husband, not my way, but Gods way.. – – You are so right, God is not in a box and He doesn’t like to be put in one either . 🙂
I love everything about this and even wrote on this myself this week! Power is unleashed when we speak blessings over others…I’ve witnessed it over and over again!
Crystal – I love that you wrote on the same subject too! that is so awesome and I love the way God is stirring our hearts about the same thing at the same time. I’ve witnessed it too and love being a part of blessing others.
