Colossians 3:12-17
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Join me today on the video blog as I talk about what we are wearing. We are told in Colossians to put on certain things, the question is, “Are we?”
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23).
I don’t think anyone of us would consciously put on a jacket full of nails and walk around with the intent to hurt others. But the truth is, some people are, and they are not even aware of it.
We must each ask ourselves, “Are we walking around with nails sticking out of our life that we are puncturing and wounding others with?”
Or instead are we wrapping others in the warmness of God’s loving kindness? We are told to clothe ourselves in kindness. Are we?
Today, what if we choose to be purposeful and put on kindness?
Ask yourself, “What kind thing can I do for someone else?”
I know we have all heard about random acts of kindness. However, what if we instead, went about being intentionally kind to others? Would it change us? Would it change others?
How about purposeful acts of kindness instead of random acts of kindness?
I will share more about how we can being intentional with kindness this Thursday on the blog at #TuneInThursday. I hope you will join me there and linkup your family friendly posts.
