Last week on Lessons from the Lake, I shared how I have been feeling that God is moving us to a place where it is finally time we Kick Fear to the Curb.
At church recently, my daughter, painted a picture during our worship time she titled ‘Searching for Truth’ The picture was powerful, but when combined with the meaning of what she felt God had given her, it was even more powerful. Watch today’s video for more….
Jeremiah 29:13 – 14
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity
At our church, we allow artists to paint during our worship service, this is what we call prophetic art. It entails an artists seeking God as to what He wants them to paint during the worship time. They also ask God for a Scripture or an encouraging word to go with the picture/painting.
It is always powerful to see how the Holy Spirit is moving and breathing through all aspects of the service from the prophetic art, the worship, to the message even when we haven’t communicated with each other verbally in advance.
Here is the full encouraging word God gave to her the picture she was to paint a few Sunday’s ago.
The painting has a two part meaning:
- I searched for the truth, all I found was You (Jesus) …
- Searching for truth no matter the cost inspired by the song Take it All by Press Play
The great thing about prophetic art, is that it speaks to those who view it in slightly different ways. When I first saw the painting, I immediately thought of the forest being the darkness, the unknown, those things that can be fearful in our lives. Yet, we must press forward and allow Jesus to be the light on our path. However, when my daughter, Brandi, shared the full encouraging word that she received, it made more of an impact.
I love how the Holy Spirit moves and speaks to our hearts and gives us exactly what we need.
We then hang the paintings in our lobby area with the encouraging words for a few weeks, before they end up going home with whoever purchased it, so that others can view them and allow the Spirit to minister to them as well.

thanks Janis – I am having so much fun being seen 🙂 It definitely adds a new twist 🙂
Your message and your daughter’s painting and message in it are beautiful, Debbie. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you Trudy and thank you so much for taking the time to stop by – watch – and comment 🙂
Your message and your daughter’s painting and message in it are inspiring, Debbie. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Trudy.
I absolutely love this picture! We attended a church that did this as well and also had special guests come and participate. One of them makes jewelry with scripture. I have a great story about a necklace I picked out that she made. When I found out what it stood for, it described me to a T. I fully believe we can use all of our gifts and talents for His glory and I love this post today! Thanks, Debbie!
Thank you so much. I am so glad you enjoyed the v-log and the picture. I
will make sure to share your thoughts with my daughter as well. I love that your previous church brought in artisans of different types – that is so awesome and I hadn’t ever heard of that before. I love how God speaks to us and then confirms it, so we know without a shadow of a doubt that it was Him…just like what happened when you picked out that necklace. Oh, by the way, I love the changes you have made to your site… you are so brave – technical stuff always frustrates me and I stay away from it, if I can. LOL
Blessings
What a cool thing to do! I love this. Not only does it create a gorgeous painting it helps us to see things in a different light. Provoke thought. And the idea that someone can purchase it and hang it in their home is wonderful!
It is a really fun thing to have available, both for the artists and for the members of the congregation – many people have been really blessed by being able to purchase the paintings as well.
Prophetic art must be lovely, Debbie. What a beautiful element to add to your service — especially for those that are visual learners and hand-on learners. <3
Lyli – it really is a fun addition… even those that are able to paint, they are moved by many of the paintings and end up purchasing them and taking them home to enjoy all the time. 🙂
