Shame. To some it is a five letter word that holds them back from fully entering into the presence of our Savior.
Shame as defined in the dictionary is the painful emotion caused by a consciousness of guilt or shortcoming or impropriety.
Have you ever felt shame over something you had done?
Or Maybe others made you feel shame because of something you did or did not do?
Scripture tells us that shame is not to be a part of our identity.
“Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” (Romans 10:11 ESV)
Join me today on the video blog below as I share a what the Lord impressed upon my heart while I was singing the song, “Holy Spirit.”
This line from the song “Holy Spirit” written by Brian & Katie Torwalt is so powerful.
“I’ve tasted and seen
Of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone
Your presence, Lord”
My shame is undone – when the Holy Spirit comes and moves, He takes our shame and it is undone. We are no longer bound to it. Our hearts are free – we are free to fully enter into and be in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
Just like the paralytic man in Luke 5. When he was lowered into the very presence of Jesus, his shame was undone, lifted off of him, and his heart became free to walk, run, dance, and leap. His sin and his shame were no more.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. Psalm 34:4-5

Shame is powerful and often keeps us from living freely. So you are right. Give it to God and don’t pick it back up again. In him we have no shame.
Theresa, you are so right, giving it to Him and not picking it back up is exactly what we need to do, sometimes it is so much harder than that, but we must continue to let it go each time we are tempted too. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me.
I love the lyrics to this song. It reminds me of the truth of how the enemy wants me to feel unworthy and beaten down. That is how sin makes us feel, and when I run to God with my screw ups He embraces me and I remember I don’t want that other stuff anyways. His love always reveals the best for us.
Meghan, YES, you are so right His love always reveals the best for us and we must continue to run to God when the enemy bombards us with lies to beat us down, or tries to shame us in staying in a place of feeling unworthy. You are loved with an Intense love by your Heavenly Father – ALWAYS remember that.
Shamelessly, HIS.
me too Susan – me too!

I love that I found this post on a day when I was reviewing Romans 8 — No condemnation, either!
Michele – Romans 8 is one of my favorite passages of Scripture. I love that God directed you to find it just at the right time to go with what you were already reading. He’s good like that.
