Do you have a favorite Scripture?
I do, lots of them actually. Depending on what is going on in my life will depend on what my favorite Scripture is for that particular day, or moment. In fact, this question “What’s your favorite Scripture?” was asked recently by another blogger. At that moment in time, I was hit hard by discouragement and loss, and felt like I needed some extra strength.
Do you ever feel like you need a little extra strength to just face the day ?
Watch today’s Lessons from the Lake video to see how I responded to the question about what my favorite Scripture is and why.
1 Samuel 30:6
And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul,[b] each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. – David strengthened himself in the Lord – our strength comes from God.
During times of trials and tribulation, David cried out to God and God ministered to him right where he was at.
We can get encouragement from the Word of God, but also encouragement can come from other people as well.
What is the verse that you cling to when you need encouraged or strength?
What lesson is there for you personally in hearing that David strengthened himself in the Lord?

I like the KJV of that verse where it says – but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. We seek encouragement from others, but we can encourage ourselves in the Lord by speaking the Word to ourselves.
Nylse – Yes, that is such a good version of it as well. It is so true, as we speak His Word over ourselves, it can encourage us greatly! Thank you so much for commenting today.
Great example with David and his dependence on the Lord. Love it.
Thank you Linda!
Yes, we need to strengthen ourselves in the Lord. We need to begin every day like nothing would have been done because we are not yet in heaven. We need God to make it but, blessedly, he is more than happy to help us on the way. Thank you. Blessings to you!
Mari-Anna – yes, indeed! We most certainly need God to help us and Hallelujah, He is always more than happy to help whenever we cry out to HIm. Blessings to you as well.
