During my video blog on Tuesday, I shared about how God works in mysterious ways, and how He used my inability to work technology to speak to me. If you missed it, please check it out here:
At the end of Tuesday’s post, I asked a few questions that sparked today’s post about the power of Testimony.
What has God done for you lately? How has He been moving in your life ?
How has He touched you? Saved you? Delivered You?
Have you been sharing with the others the amazing things God has done and is doing in your life today?
Our story—Yours and Mine can have a powerful impact on someone else’s life, even if it’s just a little part of that story! We need to be willing to tell our story to others….
Psalms 105:1-7
1 Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. 2 Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. 4 Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. 5 Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, 6 O descendants of Abraham his servant, O sons of Jacob, his chosen ones. 7 He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
These same verses in Psalms were originally in Chronicles 16:8-16 ….
This Psalm was sung as a celebration as David was bringing the Ark of the covenant back to Jerusalem.
These scriptures tell us to Remember what God has Done and to Tell others! (more on this subject of remembering next week on Tuesday’s Vlog and on Thursday’s Launch of the New Tune in Thursday Link – Up.
For now, let’s dive in to what a Testimony is?
It’s really sharing our story with another person. We testify or witness about God’s work in our lives……
Did you catch the word – testify? The Bible uses another word for sharing our story; it’s called testimony or witness. When we share the story of God’s work in our life we are sharing our testimony. That’s exactly what God expects from each of us as His followers – to simply share the Good News, to share the story of how that Good News has changed us! He wants us to share our testimony. He wants us to be witnesses to what we have seen Him do in our lives
There are 2 important reasons for us to share our testimonies with others:
- Testimonies increase Faith!
- Testimonies remind us and others of What is possible!
Hearing stories of how God came through, or what He has done are powerful and life changing!
When we hear what He has done for others, then: Our Faith Rises UP and we believe that we too can partner with God to accomplish some of the same kinds of things…..
The Bible is filled from cover to cover, of amazing life giving powerful testimonies.
During His time on earth Jesus would work in someone’s life and they would simply share their story with others. We need to be doing the same.
So, I ask again, What has God done for you? What’s your story?
I like to use stories when I preach or teach and this is a powerful story I can across some time ago.
It is a powerful story of a missionary in Africa who gave a Bible to one of the African men. When it was given to him, the man hugged it close & expressed great appreciation for the precious gift of God’s Word that the missionary had given him. But when the missionary saw him a few days later he noticed, much to his dismay, that the Bible looked like it was already falling apart, & that many of its pages were missing. The missionary asked him, “What happened? What did you do to your Bible? When I gave it to you I thought you considered it to be a treasured possession.” The man replied. “Indeed, it is a very precious possession. It is the finest gift I have ever received. It is so precious that when I returned to my village I very carefully chose a page & tore it out & gave it to my mother. Then I tore out another page & gave it to my father. And I tore out another page & gave it to my wife. Finally, I gave a page of God’s Word to everybody who lives in my village.” We may smile at that, but what a testimony! The message of God’s Word was so wonderful to him that he wanted to share it with everyone he knew!
How true this is…. There is POWER in our testimony and the testimony of others. Think about it, as we read the Bible it is full of powerful testimonies of what is Possible!
