This post is part of a community post. Every Friday, a one-word prompt is announced. This is meant to be a free write, which means: no editing, no over-thinking, and no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation. Just writing the thoughts as they come. If you’d like to participate, or read other posts, you can find all the info you need here.)
Welcome to my first 5 minute Friday post. I hope to join you some more in the future, but I have long been watching and reading (some might say stalking or lurking) from behind my computer screen each week. I was beyond delighted when I finally had the chance to see what today’s prompt was:
Oh how very appropriate it is for today. Just a few hours before I knew the prompt, I told myself that if all went well with the final stages of getting the printer what they needed to print and send me a hard copy proof that I was going to celebrate. The first way I wanted to celebrate, was by participating in 5 minute Friday today. Oh, and I told my husband, I was ready to do a HAPPY DANCE! Little did I know that today’s prompt would be DANCE!!!!
It’s funny really, because growing up I never was allowed to attend dances with my friends, but that somehow never stopped me from sneaking off to them anyway (shhhh). As I got older, my parents did allow me to attend the “bigger dances” like homecoming and prom. However, by that time I was so self-conscience about dancing – I felt I wasn’t very good, and everyone would make fun of me. Oh boy, how little we know when we are in High School. The reality is, that no one was probably even paying attention to me, or what I was doing, except my boyfriend. Who, by the way was, and still is an excellent dancer. He had all the moves, he could even break-dance (which was big in the 80’s).
Today, just felt like a dancing day and it turned out, it has been just that.
Everything went well, and my hard copy proof is on the way. I have a song in my heart and a dance in my feet. When I saw the prompt, I was thinking about what Spiritual things I could say about DANCE. My mind of course immediately went to the Scripture in Zephaniah 3:17
“For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (NLT)
And then just as quickly to the song Amazed by Lincoln Brewster. Which seems appropriate since this is the month for being grateful:
Amazed by Lincoln Brewster
You dance over me
While I am unaware
You sing all around
But I never hear the sound
Lord, I’m amazed by You
Lord, I’m amazed by You
Lord, I’m amazed by You
And how You love me
You paint the morning sky
With miracles in mind
My hope will always stand
For You hold me in Your hand
How deep, how wide
How great is Your love for me
Oh, How great His Love is for ME! Today is a DANCING day!!!!
Stop!

Julie – thank you for stopping by and visiting from Holly’s. Yes, it is a very exciting time!!!
I love that you danced – the happy hallelujah dance is my favorite and I do like to dance to Neil Diamond, in the kitchen with my hubs! Zephaniah 3.17? I used it in my FMF write also! A great word for the end of write31days!!! It was such a pleasure to meet you at ALLUME, I instantly liked you and would have liked to spend a little more time! I am number 57 at Winter’s linkup today!
Hey Susan – I am heading over to check out what you wrote. Oh, and early this morning, I saw your post on Facebook – you wrote a book!!! YAY!! I say, we both have things to celebrate and dance about! I too enjoyed meeting you at ALLUME and look forward to getting to know you more. Blessings
Hi Debbie. Your post made me reflect on a similar exercise I do with my writers group. Seeing God in the details (and dancing) of everyday life is always worth the exploration. Thanks for sharing your journey. I’m stopping by through the #RaRaLinkup!
Joy, thank you for stopping by and being an encouragement to me. I couldn’t agree with you more. Seeing God in the details is always worth exploring. Blessings to you!
Thanks for this! In my mind, every day is a dancing day. Thanks for sharing!
Kelsie – – I completely agree with you – thanks for stopping by 🙂
Congratulations on the book! It was delightful to hear your description of dancing. I could nearly see you twirling around, smiling, and loving Jesus as He became your partner in the dance. It is a grand thing when we have a day that brings those feelings and emotions to the surface and we feel free enough to act on them!
Blessings on your day!
Pam
THANK YOU PAM!!! I am so glad you stopped by for a visit. You are so correct, it is a grand day indeed when we are free to act upon them 🙂 Blessings to you.
