The Fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace ….. (Galatians 5:22)
Have you noticed that there seems to be a lot of chaos in the world today?
Peace seems like a cliche, the utopian idea that everyone longs for, and hopes will occur throughout world.. World Peace! Yet no one really believes we will ever experience or see it in this lifetime. (Not until Jesus returns that is).
So what exactly is peace? Where does peace come from? Is peace even possible? What exactly does it mean to have peace?
Find out today on this weeks video blog edition of Lesson from the Lake.
Peace isn’t really peaceful at all. It’s an aggressive overthrowing and an overtaking of those external pressures surrounding us.
It is standing up and in the authority that God has delegated to us, and aggressively overthrowing and overtaking the situations and circumstances that are coming at us from all directions.
It is HIS power in us, which gives us authority over the chaos around us.
Shalom Peace of God is ours – take our authority …. over the chaos
External pressures will continue. However, just as Jesus was able to sleep in the boat while it was tossed to and fro in the storm, so shall we be able to come to peace inside ourselves and look to Jesus.

Wow! I LOVE your insights here about peace. That indeed there is nothing peaceful about peace when you consider it is God’s power we are invoking to overtake the chaos in order to create peace.
Very well said!
Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Thank you Karen 🙂 It was a little eye opening when I got that little revelation. I am so glad you liked it. Thanks for stopping by today
Debbie, you’re so right. We only find peace as we look to and trust in God. When we remember in Whom we stand, we can walk in confidence and in peace. I never thought about peace being an aggressive overtaking, but it sure makes sense.
So glad I got to stop by here today!
Jeanne – you are so right too…. we remember in whom we stand …. that is so good. Kind of like remember who you are and whose you are! I am so glad you stopped by today as well.
HI Debbie, I am your neighbor at Holley Gerth’s blog today. I love the quote, “Shalom Peace of God is ours – take our authority …. over the chaos.” Yes! Take authority over the craziness that Satan pours over us to discourage us and stop us from God’s calling. Oh, to apply this daily into our lives. Thank you for your word. You seem to live in a beautiful place. Peace to you, Michele
Michele – so very glad to have you as a neighbor today! Yes, we have been recently blessed with a new home and in a peaceful location… it does help with the many stresses life has to offer. You are so right, applying the ability to take authority over the chaos daily, is something we need to strive to do, but sometimes is often difficult to remember when it seems you are being bombarded from all sides. Thank you so much for stopping in today. Peace to you as well.
amen, sister – we have those great shoes of peace that help us move forward!
Yes we do Sue! thanks so much for stopping in… let’s go marching forward in our shoes.
Woot yes! Love this. I feel like I failed in this area this week in my personal life. I had to repent of being a chaos contributor when things didn’t go my way. Bleh. But God is good and I am glad for do-overs and a patient husband. Thanks for linking up! It has been crazy so hopefully one day I can get back to linking up regularly.
Meg, we all have our moments, of failing in this area, the important thing is to do just what you did… repent, and then pick our authority back up and walk it out in peace! God is defeintely good, and is so great with do -overs, and overs and overs. I too have been blessed with a patient husband. I look forward to when you can link up regularly. I am delighted and blessed to have you here.
Debbie, I enjoyed the Vlog! This is a really unique perspective that I had never considered before. Thank you for such great food for thought! I’ve enjoyed being your neighbor at the link-ups this week. : )
Thanks Leslie – I am so glad you enjoyed the vlog and, I have been chewing on this perspective since I looked up the word peace in the original language and it had that description. So glad to have you as a neighbor this week, and thanks for leaving me a comment too. 🙂
